The Road is one of the classic post-apocalyptic adventures.

When society collapses, how do you protect your home, your family and yourself?
This is the compelling story of a man and his son crossing the destroyed waste land of post apocalyptic America.
Trying to avoid dangers, thieves and finding food all while trying to find a safe place to live, a father desperately tries to protect his son.

This book made me stop and consider what I can do to be more prepared for uncertain times. It also made me think about how I would protect my loved ones

I enjoyed The Never Hero book and I am looking forward to the next in the series (stop reading this and get back to writing Ellery!).

A story of a young man unknowingly enlisted into a conflict of epic proportions.
T. Ellery Hodges provide a fast-paced journey of the start of a new series involving mortal combat, aliens and a hot girl friend. I assume the next book will explore the intricate subplots which started in this book.

Prototype D and Prototype Exodus are interesting stories about the potential singularity of AI

What happens when we create machines that have their own ideas and feelings?
Even if we can create the an artificial intelligence that mimics the computational power of the human brain, even if we attempt to imbue that artificial intelligence with feelings, even if we try to program ethics, will that AI behave as expected?

The Prototype series is a story about robots, AI and what happens when machine evolution moves beyond its creators.

A well written approach to intermittent fasting .

I am a man. Why am I reading Intermittent Fasting for Women?

Over the past year or so, I watched a coworker (who I would not have identified as overweight or fat) drop almost 50 lbs through intermittent fasting. No exercise. Did not use keto. He simply only ate between the hours of noon and 8pm. Now he looks like my healthy, skinny teenage sons.

I found this book to be a well written, easy to understand approach to the topic of intermittent fasting for women and men as well as an approach to a change in lifestyle.

This book clearly outlines simple, common sense steps to starting and maintaining an intermittent fasting life style.
I have only been doing it a couple of weeks and I found that, as the book indicates, it is simple to not eat breakfast and limit my eating to normal meals between the eight hours of noon to 8pm. I have not had the sugar crashes that usually accompanied 10-11am. I eat well. I am full. This is simple.
My next step is to move into a more keto based diet with the 8/16 hour fasting the book recommends.

I wasn't certain about a dragon book with space suites and space ships on the cover, but the author creates a fun blend of scientific fiction and fantasy.

Charlie, our unwitting hero, is plunged into another world where nothing works as he has learned up to now in his life.
He finds a universe that operates on magic powers and his unique background of Earth could make him a hero or get him killed.

I will certainly be listening to the other books in this series

Wonderfully different take the typical space saga

Adrian Tchaikovsky provides a wonderfully different take the typical space saga in Children of Ruin.

Imagine a future timeline involving humanity's possible annihilation, encounters with aliens lifeforms, competing bio forms and lines of evolution.

The Children of Ruin takes us on a ride through the cosmos spanning thousands of years and the ramifications of human's colonization, genetic manipulation and unintended encounters with potentially deadly alien life forms.

This book is a great exploration of The Law of Unintended Consequences! What would happen if, over millennia, you decided to manipulate and improve a lower life form? Would they challenges humanity as the alfa species? Is artificial intelligence our friend or ultimate undoing? These might be just a few questions you will ponder as you read Children of Ruin.

Monsters really exist!

Monsters really do exist! However, they are not the things hiding under our beds or lurking in our closets.

The real monsters are the sociopaths and psychopaths that walk among us everyday.
This book covers the stories of four such monsters who feel nothing for their fellow human beings and use torture, abuse and murder to gratify their own twisted self satisfaction.

This book also touches upon the origins of these monsters, however it is not an attempt to diagnose or theorize of why these people do what they do. Are sociopaths born or a product of their experiences. Certainly many murders have had traumatic experiences as children, but many who suffer atrocities as children do not resort to these behaviors.
Evil is real.

Ryan provides a detailed account of these cases. They are well written. The narrator is very talented and professional.

Warning: Ryan tells these stories in a detailed narratives. This include descriptions of abuse, rape, sexual situations and murder. I would recommend only for adult listeners and even at that the descriptions of real crimes may be too graphic for some listeners.

HOLY CRAP!!!! The truth needs to come out!

Who do you believe?!?!?
There is so much talk today about real vs fake news. This book exposes the dirty truth of the US' involvement in Southeast Asia and it isn't pretty.
Being born in the 60s, I have had to take my understanding from books, old news reports, etc. I remember seeing one program where Robert McNamara admitted that he knew the Vietnam war was wrong and failure. I felt like he should have been tried for treason and imprisoned for prosecuting a war he knew was wrong!
Walter Cronkite and the news lied to us and especially about the Tet Offensive. Most trusted man my eye.

Being an audio book, it can be more difficult to research the references and information used in the book.
Douglas Valentine seems to have done his homework here, citing many names and places and interviews of the actual participants and policy makers.
If what is presented here is true, I am shocked and disturbed by the vast number of US and Vietnamese who lost their lives and their loved ones for nothing.
I understand the politics and fear of the spread of communism. It was and still is a real threat to the free world. Look at North Korea and the human misery of millions under the yoke of Kim Jong Un. Look at the rising power of Russia (again) or the Chinese threats against Japan and Taiwan.
However, the tactics, policies and actions described in this book demonstrate several things to my mind:
1- The thuggery and murder of evil or weak charactered men when given the power over someone else's life with no consequences. This is clear on all sides of the conflict herein.
2- Good men trying to protect and serve can be used a pawns and their lives become fodder.
3- Good and innocent people loose their liberty, property and lives when evil people strive to get gain and power by stepping on the dead.

This is not a short book. It should be read, pondered and understood.
