Historia
Lila Kennedy has a lot on her plate. A broken marriage, two wayward daughters, a house that is falling apart, and an elderly stepfather who seems to have quietly moved in. Her career is in freefall and her love life is . . . complicated. So when her real dad—a man she has barely seen since he ran off to Hollywood thirty-five years ago—suddenly appears on her doorstep, it feels like the final straw. But it turns out even the family you thought you could never forgive might have something to teach you: about love, and what it actually means to be family.

Historia
Still reeling from the sudden death of her mother, Jess is about to do the hardest thing she's ever done: empty her childhood home so that it can be sold. As she sorts through a lifetime of memories, everything comes to a halt when she comes across something she just can’t part with: an old set of encyclopedias. To the world, the books are outdated and ready to be recycled. To Jess, they represent love and the future that her mother always wanted her to have.

This is the third book I’ve listened to written by Mike Gayle and again, I loved it. He writes with such a compassionate heart, with great sensitivity and the story winds around to an uplifting ending. I can never see the ending until the very end which I like. The narration is always excellent too. I recommend this highly!

The incredibly moving and uplifting new novel from the author of The Man I Think I Know. Kerry Hayes knows exactly who she is: a single mum, a cleaner and Mariah Carey's biggest fan. Noah Martineau thinks he knows who he is: a successful barrister, with a wife, daughter and big house in Primrose Hill. Strangers with nothing in common. Strangers living worlds apart. But it wasn't always this way...and Noah and Kerry are about to discover just who they really are.

I loved All The Lonely People by Mike Gayle and also loved Half A World Away! Mike is definitely a gifted writer and the characters come alive to me. They are so real and down to earth and I can see them as I listen to the amazing narration. Both books touched my heart deeply and I’ve decided to read all he has written and suggest the same to you. You won’t be disappointed!

I loved this book and all the narrators! There were so many pieces to it and I became fascinated with how Ms Quinn wove them all together. Definitely a novel I couldn’t put down due to not being able to foresee how each twist and turn would connect. Thank you Kate Quinn!

A heart wrenching true story.
Revisado: 09-09-24
This was difficult to listen to because it is written in truth and many of atrocities are still occurring. When this book is listened to by more people, hopefully the poor young children who are being kidnapped will be rescued and saved and this rampage will be stopped. This is an excellent cause to support. The narration is supberb!

The narrator was excellent and helped the story greatly! To know that many of the horrible things mentioned in this book were actually done to black slaves is heart breaking.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.
