Historia
Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a "wonderful" husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical - most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver. Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent - and on a quest of her own....

Sweet story that took me by surprise- in a good way. From the first chapter I was intrigued and loved the characters. Can’t wait yo read the next in the series.

Entirely different from anything I’ve read before!
Revisado: 11-15-24
Enticing, complicated, layered,
at times confusing & full of twists and turns- I adored this story. Driven by love, faith, revenge, hatred, suffering & how we live with others in light of all these elements- this story kept me interested for hours. The narrator did a fabulous job with the accents and helping to dive the story…at times boring his voice kept me going. I’m so glad I finished this very long book- and while there are some elements I found difficult to accept with my modern sensibilities the overall themes and lessons from this story will stay with me forever.

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

Big heart, big pain, big love & loss!
Revisado: 04-25-24
This book swept me up and I had a hard time putting it down. I confess it was difficult to read w/ so much of it being sad & painful & raw - I typically consume more light hearted reads. Painful story laced with sex, drugs, loss and rock ‘n roll. But the characters were complex and interesting and I enjoyed the retelling of each story from all their different points of view. The unsung heroine of this story & her strength of character made this book both charming and redemptive. When you read it you’ll know who I’m talking about! Overall, it was a great story and I’d recommend it.

Historia
In I'll Have What She's Having, entertainment journalist Erin Carlson tells the story of the real Nora Ephron and how she reinvented the romcom through her trio of instant classics. With a cast of famous faces including Reiner, Hanks, Ryan, and Crystal, Carlson takes listeners on a rollicking, revelatory trip to Ephron's New York City, where reality took a backseat to romance and Ephron - who always knew what she wanted and how she wanted it - ruled the set with an attention to detail that made her actors feel safe but sometimes exasperated crew members.

A great BTS look at some of my favorite ROMCOMS and iconic Nora!
Revisado: 02-04-23
Loved every page. Fun, hilarious, surprising, interesting - a great story if you like behind the scenes of writers, actors NYC & Hollywood. Nora seemed like a one of kind, talented treasure before I read this. And I still think she was those things and more. A funny, complex, brilliant person with good taste- who had her share of ups and downs. Those characteristics accompany the people & stories of her iconic films. If you love her ROMCOMS you’ll probably love this book & enjoy learning more about them (and her). I also got to discover more about the actors involved than I expected to learn. If listening- please note that there is some language in the book that may not be suitable for young children.

Longtime follower & this book did not disappoint!
Revisado: 01-05-22
Emily’s literary voice is a delight to read- and her narration was wonderful to listen to as well. She is vulnerable, graceful and honest in a relatable way. I find her journey to be refreshing, faith-filled and inspiring. I’m very grateful for her work as an artist and writer. I actually own the hard copy of this book and love the beautiful illustrations. When I first got it I was reading slowly so I could savor it (I’ve read and followed Emily’s blog for many years). But I realized I preferred to finish the book quickly so I could recommend it and/or pass it on the friends. The audible version is a treasure to listen to and the hard copy is fun to look at! I recommend both!
