Drue Leyton
Revisado: 11-18-23
Oh, my goodness....this is a great book based on the true story of Hollywood actress Drue Leyton. I had to research her once I was done reading the book. Be sure to read the author's notes at the end. I look forward to reading The Beantown Girls, which is patiently waiting for me to pick it up to read. The only complaint I have is the narrator reads slower than me which makes it a challenge when reading along with whispersync and the narration of Nadine's voice was too childlike.

Historia
Alix St. Pierre. An unforgettable name for an unforgettable woman. She grew up surrounded by Hollywood glamor, but, as an orphan, never truly felt part of that world. In 1943, with WWII raging and men headed overseas to fight, she lands a publicity job to recruit women into the workforce. Her skills—persuasion, daring, quick-witted under pressure—catch the attention of the U.S. government and she finds herself with an even bigger assignment: sent to Switzerland as a spy. Soon Alix is on the precipice of something big, very big. But how far can she trust her German informant…?

I was expecting more!
Revisado: 09-11-23
I liked this book but really wanted to love it! It started out as one I could not put down. Come day 2 of reading not so much. It was like a favorite TV show that gave the viewers a storyline that drug out for far too many seasons. This one could have been wrapped up with 100 fewer pages. My book cover also has Alix as a photographer with brunette hair not the beautiful red head they spoke of throughout the book. Not sure of the connection to the story.
Edited to add: I have read several dual timeline stories. This one I found very hard to follow.

Historia
Rare-book dealer Ashlyn Greer’s affinity for books extends beyond the intoxicating scent of old paper, ink, and leather. She can feel the echoes of the books’ previous owners—an emotional fingerprint only she can read. When Ashlyn discovers a pair of beautifully bound volumes that appear to have never been published, her gift quickly becomes an obsession. Not only is each inscribed with a startling incrimination, but the authors, Hemi and Belle, tell conflicting sides of a tragic romance.

This is my most favorite book by Adriana Trigiani. She has the best gift of storytelling. This narration brought it to life, excellent reading! You will not be disappointed.
