just love this book. I actually loved this book so much (and the narrators!) that on my commute I listened to what I read the night before. just wow!

wow, such an important story.

My mom grew up during WW2 in Europe. She was such a strong woman and learned how to survive horrible times. She had issues with her vision due to the starvation she experienced in her youth. She too could never throw away food, even decades past the expiration date of canned goods.
Kristin Hannah did a great job researching and telling this important story

Mixed reviews online, but I loved reading it, and the narrator (listening while driving to work) did a really great job to make the characters real and likable. He made me laugh despite the story being a bit dark in places.

I rarely listen (or read) any book more than once.

What about Roxane Gay’s performance did you like?

She was true and authentic. It is rare that an author is also a good narrator! She definitely is both. I am glad that she read her own book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many many moments moved me. While it is her story and her truth, I do not agree with some of her interpretation of the world's reaction to her. I wish she had found (or allowed) a friend to support her earlier in life.

but just unnecessarily long! too many unneeded details, an editor should have stepped in and shortened the story. GREAT NARRATOR, who really kept me interested in the story, so many different voices!

We are all flawed, and there is always more to the story you think. Don't judge a person too quickly.

Rarely do I prefer an audiobook over the paper version. I love reading! Audiobooks are a way for me to be able to read more, since my commute is relatively long. But Caroline Lee does such a wonderful job with bringing the different characters to life, I found myself more than once putting my book away, and plugging in my headphones (folding laundry, or cleaning or going for a walk instead of sitting down to read). Fun story, and if you can, listen to it!
