I could not finish this book. It purports to be about the races of man who developed math. I was surprised to learn that Greeks and Phoenicians were races. How can one tell the history of math without Arabic numbers, and the math developed in China and South America?

Riveting. I went to school or studied with many of these men before switching to a lab science 40 years ago. The field was quite male dominated. While not the Double Helix, there is good science here and the competitiveness of research rings true. If you liked Watson's book you will like this.

If you get the audio version download the pdf. And if you do not have an anatomy background, get an anatomy for dummies type book.

The narrator has a good voice, but does not know how to pronounce scientific and Latin derived words. Sometimes his attempt to mimic voices of the principals is awful and misleading.

I always learn something new when reading or re-reading Bart Ehrman. He is a delightful and thought provoking author-narrator. In this course the author clearly and distinctly puts the life, ministry and death of Jesus in historical context, while explaining which parts of the New Testament we can determine to be fact (examples: Crucifixion, siblings) and which parts are contradictory or not subject to historical judgement (examples: virgin birth, son of God). By placing Jesus and His ministry in historical context, Prof. Ehrman answers some of my questions, and raises new questions and a desire for knowledge-based information about Jewish and Christian history.

Tension keeps rising through the story as we are pulled in. Plot twists make sense in this dystopian future. Can there be a happy ending?

Especially those going back to the fifties. Well written and narrated. If you like legal thrillers, football, isms, art or CIA stories, you will love this one.

Grey Magic Audiolibro Por JT Lawrence arte de portada

Genuine and Fantasy

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 08-12-19

Lawrence is an author full of genuine wonder. Once again, she has brought me to tears and carried me back to resolution. Once again her plot twists are genuine, true to the story, and kept me on an almost uncomfortable edge.

Grey Magic is an amazing story of a believable witch and her second(?) coming of age and power. The protagonist is a modern and delightful feminist, for those of us who love and are feminists. She undergoes the classic persecution strong independent women and witches have endured.

Five stars to the story, and to the excellent narration.

Breathtaking Suspense

A Dark Lure is a breathtaking suspense story and the narration is excellent. The characters are well drawn. Some of the mystery and relationships among characters comes in pieces from the narration of past events. The tension builds as past and current events unfold. There is only one relationship that is truly surprising, but the clues are there.

To Speak for the Dead

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 09-19-17

Is not just a post-mortem story. It begins with with a malpractice trial attempting to speak for the dead. We meet the main characters during this trial, and become warm and sympathetic to some. But this is only the beginning as we see a sequence of lawyers, prosecutors, judges, lovers and loved ones, coroners, forensic medicine, murderers MDs, and even the dead themselves, speak, very eloquently, for the dead. Good read.

Flawed Shero persists

Since there is a second book in this series, it won't be a spoiler to say that Merci survives, gains self-knowledge, and really becomes the hero of this story. She is not the only hero in this unusual mystery. Merci has to face her survivalist family after an absence of fifteen years, and solve two crimes in an area where women are expected obey their fathers and their husbands. Some conflicts can not be easily resolved.

The narrator was perfect for this story. She helped me "see" the tangled and foreign landscape painted by the author.

I am liking forward to the second book in the seriousness, both the ebook and the audiobook.

Wolves is the first of six awesome books.

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 06-16-17

I could not put this book down. It has an exciting mix of Norse myths and life in 21st century Chicago. Transitions are deft, smooth, and thematically related. In this first of six books, we get to know the protagonists, Amy and Loki. Their lives and worlds intersect in their separate and joint adventures. Get the kindle ebook first, and receive a large discount on the audio. Read or listen to the books in order. I am listening to the set for the second time, already catching some foreshadowing I missed the first time. The written book is helpful to check stories and sequence.
