Historia
In this must-listen book for anyone striving to succeed, pioneering psychologist Angela Duckworth shows parents, educators, students, and businesspeople - both seasoned and new - that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a focused persistence called "grit". Why do some people succeed and others fail? Sharing new insights from her landmark research on grit, MacArthur "genius" Angela Duckworth explains why talent is hardly a guarantor of success.

Pretty good
Revisado: 04-15-19
It's a good book about working towards your goals for an extended period of time. It's a little bit of a mixed bag with some unreason in it, but overall worth the read.

Many great tips for writing
Revisado: 02-16-19
This book has many great tips on how to write and how to review your work. Paraphrasing, it emphasizes that you should focus outwards on the problem, and not inwardly on how intelligent your writing makes you look.

Historia
Kristen Leonard is done with setups. She’s not interested in your son or your nephew or your butcher or the guy who mows your lawn, thank you very much, grandma! After all, she’s a modern woman - she’ll take her chances on the algorithms of online dating to find her ideal man. Before long, she meets a man who might just be the one - he’s hilarious, quick-witted, and full of heart. And when she meets up with Cameron in real life, he certainly looks exactly like his profile picture...but something’s not quite right.

Short and fun book. It got me smiling. Worth the listen, though perhaps not the best book if you want to learn new things.

Historia
This remarkable, newly revised collection of Ayn Rand's early fiction ranges from beginner's exercises to excerpts from early versions of We the Living and The Fountainhead. Arranged chronologically, from 1926 through 1940, these works allow readers to follow the extraordinary trajectory of Rand's literary and intellectual growth, from a 21-year-old Russian immigrant struggling to master English to the brilliant prose stylist and sophisticated philosopher she was to become in her mature work.

Great gems
Revisado: 11-05-18
There were some great gems in this book. My favorite was the parts that were cut away from The Fountainhead. Clearly not a book for people new to Ayn Rand, but for those very familiar with her work it's great.

In the 1960s and early '70s, the most prominent, vocal cultural movement was the New Left: a movement that condemned America and everything it stood for: individualism, material wealth, science, technology, capitalism.

The book explains many difficult issues. How do people become bad? Why are some people acting so destructive? What role is environmentalists playing?
These and many other questions are well answered.

Historia
In this beautifully written and brilliantly reasoned collection of essays, Ayn Rand throws new light on the nature of art and its purpose in human life. Once again, she demonstrates her bold originality and her refusal to let conventional ideas define her sense of the truth. Rand eloquently asserts that one cannot create art without infusing it with one's own value judgments and personal philosophy - even an attempt to withhold moral overtones only results in a deterministic or naturalistic message.

Historia
Who needs philosophy? Ayn Rand's answer: Everyone. This collection of essays was the last work planned by Ayn Rand before her death in 1982. In it, she summarizes her view of philosophy and deals with a broad spectrum of topics. According to Ayn Rand, the choice we make is not whether to have a philosophy, but which one to have: a rational, conscious, and therefore practical one, or a contradictory, unidentified, and ultimately lethal one.

All intellectuals need philosophy
Revisado: 06-24-18
The book gives excellent reasons why I should care about philosophy; in order to live.
The book also goes into some details on how philosophers have been seeking to destroy mans mind as well as the US. It also shows some actions that can be taken to change the trends.

Historia
In the years between her first public lecture in 1961 and her last in 1981, Ayn Rand spoke and wrote about topics as different as education, medicine, Vietnam, and the death of Marilyn Monroe. In The Voice of Reason, these pieces are gathered together in book form for the first time. Written in the last decades of Rand's life, they reflect a life lived on principle, a probing mind, and a passionate intensity. With them are five essays by Leonard Peikoff, Rand's longtime associate and literary executor.

Revisado: 06-21-18
If you are familiar with objectivist literature, there is some repetition here, but many new things as well, and most of it is really good. Very good material for a person who would like to have happiness on earth.
If you are new to Ayn Rand, this will give you some insight in some of her perspectives.

Historia
After the publication of Atlas Shrugged in 1957, Ayn Rand occasionally lectured in order to bring her philosophy of Objectivism to a wider audience and apply it to current cultural and political issues. These taped lectures and the question-and-answer sessions that followed added not only an eloquent new dimension to Ayn Rand's ideas and beliefs, but a fresh and spontaneous insight into Ayn Rand herself.

It sounds like Ayn Rand
Revisado: 06-09-18
The book gives insight into a mind dedicated to life on earth. She is the only philosopher that starts with observation and continues in that pattern. Much of the material in this book will be familiar to those who love her, but there are some points that I have not heard elsewhere. For beginners I would suggest her novels rather than this book. This book is good for those interested in her philosophy and her opinions.
