Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Courageous women who had no idea the impact that they had on others
Revisado: 03-07-25
This story is so heart wrenchingly beautiful! The things that millions of people endured & suffered through are so unimaginable in this day and age. I recommend that everyone reads this book just so they can understand the reality of war and what’s left behind when someone loses and someone wins. People suffered on both sides. They did things they didn’t know that they could. Amazing and beautiful and sad and heroic. If I could give this one 10 stars I certainly would.

Historia
New York, 1898. The only thing more shocking than Arthur Stanhope III’s unexpected death is the revelation that his will bestows his company—and most of the vast fortune that goes with it—to the nearest male heir, leaving his mother, wife, and daughter nearly impoverished. His widow, Sylvia, quickly realizes she must set aside her grief to ensure their daughter, Adelaide, is launched into society as soon as the appropriate mourning period passes.

This is a story , though set in a different time is so familiar to all mothers. The things that we will sacrifice for our children’s safety and happiness is endless. Beautifully written. I love all books with multiple timelines and this one did not disappoint. Great story and great narration.

How would I describe Marta’s legacy books 1&2? Real… the relationships between 4 generations of women is
so beautiful and sad and ugly and REAL!!! F. Rivers made me laugh and cry but more importantly she made me stop and reflect on my relationships with my mother, grandmother and my daughters. I also stopped to think about my relationship with God now and in my past. She is an amazing author and I felt the presence of God in her writing.

Historia
In the compelling conclusion to the New York Times best-seller Her Mother’s Hope, Christy Award-winning author Francine Rivers explores the sorrow that can tear families apart and the grace that can heal the deepest wounds. Just as Carolyn had formed a stronger bond with her Oma Marta than with her mother, so Carolyn’s daughter is drawn to her grandma more than to a mom who’s caught up in the 1960s counterculture....

Fun and lighthearted
Revisado: 11-08-24
Let me start by saying this is not my normal read. I love fantasy but usually darker fantasy. I would also like to say I agree with the other reviews that I have read, the 1st book was better than this one. On to the good stuff. These books are light and funny. Narrator is perfect! Characters are easy to like. Is it predictable? Maybe a little. Is it silly ? Yes and that’s what I love about. All of October I listened to very dark ghost & fantasy books so these have been a great way to move on to something light and fun! “Red-head” is used a lot but I honestly didn’t notice it until someone pointed it out. It somehow just sucks you right in. The humor caught me off guard and I found myself giggling out loud. I recommend these if you need something fun and light. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was so good! I wasn’t expecting it to be so amazing! So many up and downs, twists and turns, love and loss, new and old! I could go on & on. Serial killer, big businesses looking out for their gains & being terrible to their workers. Beginning of the Union. Crime bosses, poor families struggling. Rising above the poverty and best of all a strong willed young girl that overcame her circumstances turned her sorrow and sadness into pure determination!! It’s a must listen!

Historia
England, 1881. Hereford Cathedral stands sentinel over the city, keeping its secrets, holding long forgotten souls in its stony embrace. Hecate Cavendish speeds through the cobbled streets on her bicycle, skirts hitched daringly high, heading for her new life as Assistant Librarian. But this is no ordinary collection of books. The cathedral houses an ancient chained library, wisdom guarded for centuries, mysteries and stories locked onto its worn, humble shelves. The most prized artifact, however, is the medieval world map which hangs next to Hecate’s desk.

All the good, the bad and in between southern style
Revisado: 09-06-24
This book is so good!
Great history. Lots of New Orleans history. Voodoo, creole, plantation homes and yes racial inequality because during this time period it was something that could not be left out of this story. So many brave people both black and white that fought for equal rights. Loss of life and love. Old stories new stories. My only complaint is not about the story but about the narration. The southern accents and the pronunciation of places in the south were terrible. The story itself is so great that I just dealt with the bad narration!
