There is no magic pill
Revisado: 07-06-24
Change involves small steps compounded over time. My favorite part is that the final plan will not be the current plan. Simply start a process and then the plan will evolve over time to eventually get to the destination.

Historia
Joe De Sena has spent his life running toward challenge and discomfort. Why? Because how we react to challenging situations defines us and our families. The only tools we have as humans to survive the many peaks and valleys of a full life are preparedness, health, leadership, and most importantly, resilience. Why do so many parents struggle to finish things we start, delay gratification, and protect our health - and why do our kids continue to struggle in every facet of life? Because we haven’t showed them a path to resilience, and we haven’t fought for it ourselves.

Best authority to date
Revisado: 04-08-24
Like the intro, I have weighted blankets, a CPAP machine, don’t work out in the evenings and do everything to try to sleep. This is the best long-term solution I have found. I bought the actual book in order to read it slowly and implement the process to fixing my sleep for good. This is not a quick fix book and insomnia is not a quick fix problem for must. Grateful I stumbled upon this book randomly!

So grateful…THANK YOU!
Revisado: 03-29-24
I listened to a powerful Audible by Arlan Hamilton entitled “It’s About Damn Time” and she referenced that she read the book “This Naked Mind” and never picked up a drink again. I have been wanting not to drink for quite some time. I do Dry January and stop off and on depending on what I have going on but I want to quit and I listened to this right after I got the recommendation. It is exactly what I needed and now I understand how the marketing of alcohol is more influential than I previously understood. I feel complete at peace with choosing not to drink now on a daily basis and just seeing how long the streak goes. I had a simple conversation with my wife and kindly requested her to respect my decision to not drink even if she chooses to continue. If I decide to swallow the poison again for some reason, it is okay and then I will just pick up another alcohol-free streak until I no longer need to keep a streak. I will keep going in that direction for the rest of my long and healthy life. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Historia
We live in a hierarchical world where experience has traditionally been the key to promotion. But that period is over! Straight, clear-cut career trajectories no longer exist. Industries disappear, job descriptions change, and people's interests and passions evolve. The key to riding this wave, entrepreneur James Altucher advises, is to constantly be curious about what's next, to be comfortable with uncertainty so you can keep navigating the rough waters ahead, and most importantly, to pursue the things that interest you.

Great theory on a growth mindset
Revisado: 02-11-24
My favorite book ever is Carol Dweck’s Mindset. That book completely changed me and what I am capable of. My wife has never truly broken out of her fixed mindset and now I understand why from this book. While I do live in the Gap sometimes like most, I mostly appreciate how far I have come and spend most of my time focused on the Gain. She continually focused on now living up her ideal. This is the perfect tool to help her and others on how to appreciate where they are versus worrying about where they are not. This will get my ultimate audiobook treatment: 1) placed in favorites and will listen to at least 2x a year; 2) buy and read the book; 3) create actionable items from the book to implement into habits.

Historia
It's not you; it's your schedule. Does it sound like magic? It's not. We've all heard of circadian rhythms - those biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits - like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts, working late into the night and then trying to catch up on sleep during the weekend - disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level.

Revisado: 02-08-24
Every year, there are about 3-4 audiobooks that I love so much I have to order the book to read and actually really implement the details. This is the first book of 2024 I will be reading after listening to it!
It lists practical steps to build habits to support how our bodies are designed. Can’t wait to struggle to implement. Habits are not built overnight but confident these principles will bring lasting change.
