Historia
Fischer has everything he needs in life: blossoming friendships, a menagerie of cute animal companions, a waterfront property with easy access to fishing, and enough coffee to take out a small elephant or a really big dog. Unfortunately, Fischer can’t catch a break. Cosmic forces? Still throwing curveballs. The bigwigs in the capital? Starting to sniff around his business. Cults? Still culting. Plus, awakened beings are washing up on his shores like flotsam after a storm. And worst of all? His coffee guy ghosted him!

Enjoy the story….
Revisado: 07-26-24
I enjoy the story but the politics are getting more overt and thus more offensive. I read/listen for the stories and enjoyment. Please keep your political views on the down low, not everyone who reads fantasy is liberal and it’s too late in my life to convert me. I will read the next book hoping that the political messaging does not get any more overt.

Buying the second book now…
Revisado: 04-03-24
I enjoyed the story line and the characters. MC is young but not “to stupid to live”, just not hardened and snarky (which I do prefer). Right now this is in my second tier of series with Sylver Seeker, Mark of the Fool, and Guardian of Aster Falls. My first tier is Primal Hunter, System Universe, Defiance of the Fall, etc.

Boyd Knight found his calling when he joined the Marines and qualified for the elite Force Recon. He'd found a tribe and a family, so when a hand grenade landed near his team, he jumped on it without thought or regret. But instead of winding up dead, he wakes up butt-naked in a cave full of monsters with a knife in one hand and a pistol in the other. He's been chosen by Raguel, the Five-Faced God of Justice, and entrusted with the power of the Vigil Bound.

Hoping this would be good, it wasn’t. Got 2/3 of the way through and just gave up. Two for one sale, hope the other book is better than this one.

Happy to find a new series
Revisado: 03-04-24
Enjoyed this book and I’m buying number 2 right now. I did turn the narration to 105 to make it more palatable but that’s just me. Always in search of new series and this one works right now. Really happy that I got the book on sale. Might not have read it otherwise. I’ve had a recent string of boring, going nowhere series so this makes a nice change.

Enjoyed as much as the first
Revisado: 03-03-24
Still have the narrator set at 95% and that works for me, unusual since I quite often speed up the narration. This is a good series and I will definitely buy the next one when it comes out.

Took a Few Chapters but Really Enjoyed
Revisado: 03-03-24
I tried this after trying a few other series I didn’t care for that much. The first few chapters were hard to figure out, I finally lowered the speed to 95% and enjoyed it much more. I usually speed up the narration so this was different. I’ve already bought and listened to book 2 and enjoyed that one as well. I think I bought the first one in the 2 for 1 sale so that was pleasant. Definitely worth it.

Didn’t realize this was part of a series
Revisado: 03-01-24
I didn’t realize this was a continuation of a series I’ve looked at before but I never read. Maybe if I had read the other series first I might have connected with the character? I just never really liked him all that much so the story dragged.

Didn’t quite finish the book. I never really connected with any of the characters in the book so it was just sort of drudgery to read it. Finally decided I had spent enough time on it and gave up.
