Historia
America's leading mystery writers are being brutally murdered. Third-tier author Guy Davitt?a would-be Dashiell Hammett?stumbles upon the killer?s bizarre M.O. (the deaths are lifted from mystery novels). But Davitt cannot convince deeply skeptical police a ?Sleuth Slayer? actually exists. Through a dark labyrinth of film studio power brokers, publishing industry politics, a decadent family's wealthy influence, police immorality?as well as the dawning realization that he himself is on the killer's list?Davitt pursues the truth.

good solid story
Revisado: 03-13-24
I liked this story and I didn't mind that it was not human narrated. The narration was surprisingly good, but it left me wondering why the book was narrated by a female voice with a foreign accent if the main character is a California guy telling his story in the first person. Go figure.

those words
Revisado: 05-15-22
I loved the book and the pace, and everything in between.
But I want to drop a note to the author. Those words spoken by the gay character to his mother, apply to everyone..a mother, a sister, a daughter, a father, a brother, etc... no matter if you're gay or not: "......you're my mother and I love you buy if you can't respect me, you have no business here". That's it. Hats off Mr. Fierstein!

Very dramatic

Didn’t like this story, wouldn’t recommend it. The main character suffers and suffers continues to describe her suffering. I didn’t enjoy the book nor the characters.

Denial in its full glory.
Revisado: 12-01-17
What did you love best about The Good House?
I have read several books whose characters were alcoholic. But the narration is always from the point of view of the relatives who suffer from someone else's alcoholism. This is the first book I read where the point of view comes from the alcoholic herself and she is in denial, no less. It was funny. It was hilarious. It was sad. It was sobering. I loved the book and the narration.

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It is a truth universally acknowledged that anyone looking for a great listen won’t be able to resist Jane Austen’s delightful classic of love and manners in Regency England. Jane Austen's story of Mrs. Bennet's finding husbands for her daughters is told with wit and charm. A must for lovers of good literature. Commuters Library presents Pride and Prejudice read by Kate Reading.

Historia
Famed sculptor Clare Kimball has commanded the attention of the New York art world, but troubling memories from childhood have drawn her home to Maryland, to the town where she grew up and where her father died so long ago in circumstances never really explained. Nothing much has changed in Emmitsboro—except Cameron Rafferty, the onetime high school bad boy turned town sheriff. The only hint of Cam’s wild nature is the light in his eyes when he looks at Clare. In Cam’s strong arms Clare is seduced into falling in love—and believing that her small-town world is safe.

Didn't like the story much less the end
Revisado: 06-02-13
What disappointed you about Divine Evil?
This is the first of a gazillion books I have read of Nora Roberts that I really don't like. The story plot is kind of same old but interesting, the devil worshippers theme is not. And I hated the end. i won't say more... Don't want to insert spoilers.
Has Divine Evil turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yes
Have you listened to any of Kimberly Farr’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
She is good.

Historia
Dupont University: the Olympian halls of learning housing the cream of America's youth, the roseate Gothic spires and manicured lawns suffused with tradition....Or so it appears to beautiful, brilliant Charlotte Simmons, a sheltered freshman from North Carolina, who has come here on full scholarship. But Charlotte soon learns, to her mounting dismay, that for the upper-crust coeds of Dupont, sex, Cool, and kegs trump academic achievement every time.

Loved it!
Revisado: 04-10-13
What made the experience of listening to I Am Charlotte Simmons the most enjoyable?
the characters. I loved them all.
Have you listened to any of Dylan Baker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first time I listen to Dylan Baker, but I loved the way he changes his voice to fit the character.
If you could take any character from I Am Charlotte Simmons out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Charlotte. She is like any 18 year old teenager. With all the insecurities and in the process of learning. She is very smart.
Any additional comments?
I have "read" all 3 books from this author. I like the way he makes us laugh at the human nature.
