Historia
For 31 years, a monster terrorized the residents of Wichita, Kansas. A bloodthirsty serial killer, self-named "BTK" - for "bind them, torture them, kill them" - he slaughtered men, women, and children alike, eluding the police for decades while bragging of his grisly exploits to the media. The nation was shocked when the fiend who was finally apprehended turned out to be Dennis Rader - a friendly neighbor...a devoted husband...a helpful Boy Scout dad...the respected president of his church. Written by four award-winning crime reporters who covered the story for more than 20 years, Bind, Torture, Kill is the most intimate and complete account of the BTK nightmare

Great story. Fine narration. Very enjoyable read. Knew nothing about this. Quite disturbing to know this kind of person existed.

Historia
Back in the fall of 2016, we heard the news about the passing of Eddie Antar, "Crazy Eddie" as he was known to millions of people, the man behind the successful chain of electronic stores and one of the most iconic ad campaigns in history. Few things evoke the New York of a particular era the way "Crazy Eddie! His prices are insaaaaane!" does. The journalist Herb Greenberg called his death the "end of an era" and that couldn't be more true. What's insane is that his story has never been told.

Insane Choice of Narrator

The story was interesting and quite detailed. Narrator has a very irritating voice. Made me want to blow off finishing the book. The ending of the book is weakly done.

From two former military officers and award-winning authors comes a chillingly authentic geopolitical thriller that imagines a naval clash between the US and China in the South China Sea in 2034 - and the path from there to a nightmarish global conflagration.

Woke and Weak and Why was this Written?
Revisado: 02-12-22
Very bad book. Politically correct bent knee - woman admiral, woman POTUS and, even better, the U.S. attack submarine "Michelle Obama"!. Low on believability and trite writing befitting a high, high school sophomore, rather than an Admiral. If this is any indication of the imagination and creativity of the people leading our military, God help us. To make sure you understand how lightweight the creator of this lead zeppelin is, he suggests people look to a Kubrick parody for insight into reality (Dr. Stranglove) in the "comments" once this slow grind of a book mercifully concludes. Now THAT suggestion is truly scary. When he began to complain that prior wars were due to people with a "lack of imagination" (unlike him), the odor of the narcissist began to penetrate my ears. This is instantly recognizable as the same tissue thin depth of cognition as the light weight carbon bipeds that get their "news" from late night comedians. This is a preachy lecture from a self-absorbed "thou shalter" who, realizing he has revealed a bit too much, starts claiming to be a political centrist. Sure, buddy. Oh man, Tom Clancy is spinning in his grave.

Enjoyable history. Discounting to have it ruined with an idiot’s politics chapter on comparing Trump to Caligula. Seriously? Grow up.

Historia
Vietnam became the Western world’s most divisive modern conflict, precipitating a battlefield humiliation for France in 1954, then a vastly greater one for the US in 1975. Max Hastings has spent the past three years interviewing scores of participants on both sides, as well as researching a multitude of American and Vietnamese documents and memoirs, to create an epic narrative of an epic struggle. Here are the vivid realities of strife amid jungle and paddies that killed two million people.

Historia
The Internet was never intended for you, opines Brian McCullough in this lively narrative of an era that utterly transformed everything we thought we knew about technology. In How the Internet Happened, he chronicles the whole fascinating story for the first time, beginning in a dusty Illinois basement in 1993, when a group of college kids set off a once-in-an-epoch revolution with what would become the first "dotcom".

Even treatment of key events and accomplishments of the history of the internet. To me, the importance of Facebook is overstated to a fanboy degree. Otherwise, a very enjoyable romp through this recent tech historical period.

Historia
The recording sessions for Let It Be actually began as rehearsals for a proposed return to live stage work for the Beatles, to be inaugurated in a concert at a Roman amphitheatre in Tunisia. In this thoroughly researched book, Steve Matteo delves deep into the complex history of these sessions. He talks to a number of people who were in the studio with the Beatles, recording the sights and sounds of the band at work - bringing to life a period in the Beatles' career that was creative and chaotic in equal measure.

The Struggle to Criticize Gods
Revisado: 02-11-18
Rosy aura sprayed over mediocrity accomplishment of the best that ever were at what they did. To understand this statement, listen to the White Album all the way through. Then listen to Let It Be al the way through. Then listen to Abbey Road all the way to the end. You cannot but appreciate the unpolished half- hearted accomplishment that Let It Be is as an inferior thing inserted between two incredible pieces of musical creation. The cool details are always fun to learn but the time, effort and the result was basically lame.

Historia
After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst. When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement.

Great Series Now Running on Fumes
Revisado: 10-22-17
Sad to see the qualitative drop in this (hopefully) last book. The writing focuses on Flynn-like plot threads but fails to make the transitions as crisp as we have become accustomed to. No real progressive increase in plot tension. As others have said, the switch in narrators was a very bad move and made me regret buying the audio version. George G., however, would not have saved this effort.
Mitch sounds exhausted, Kennedy and Alexander thrown together hurriedly. The other old characters, ridiculously assembled here, come off pale and one dimensional. Could have illustrated this one and sold it as the first Mitch Rapp comic book. The writing is an embarrassment. Real shame.
In time, I will buy the paperback and see if it reads a little better than my impression now but this one is a flop and I would not expect many more of these to come. You would expect Mills to move on to something else rather than simply mailing in another Mitch Rapp book in order to cash a check for himself and Vince's family.
Better reads in this genre are out there to be had. Would never have written those words before this dud. I see the high ratings given by others and see them as a sign of reluctance to admit an old friend doesn't have was it takes anymore. Me too, my friends, me too. The time has come to say goodbye, though.
