Historia
Yog-Sothoth, known as the Key and the Gate and a host of other names, is H.P. Lovecraft's most enduring creation after the Necromnomicon and Great Cthulhu itself. An eldritch god that occupies all time and space, Yog-Sothoth is most known for his role as the antagonist in The Dunwich Horror but has played a role in many other Cthulhu Mythos stories. Tales of Yog-Sothoth features several stories centered around the creepy deity and its monstrous intelligence.

Very good selection of Lovecraftian themed short stories with some unexpected surprises and even a bit of humor.

I enjoyed this book for the most part although some of the stories seemed more stock horror with some mythos references and lore shoehorned in rather than being genuinely Lovecraftian. So I’d consider this collection more along the lines of well-written fan fiction rather than legitimate examples of cosmic horror narrative. But this is fairly typical and should be expected since HPL is a tough act to follow. The narrator’s performance was excellent excluding the one story where the use of 30s era Hollywood fake Arab accents was more an annoyance than a pleasure to listen to. But that may just be me. If you’re a Mythos fan it’s a fun listen. Recommended.
