What would have made Thunder Strike! better?

A different narrator. Or if this narrator had ever had a passing interest in punctuation.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator transitioned between scenes suddenly, rather than smoothly. I was nearly always left with a "where in the heck are we now?" feeling, save the chapter transitions, but then only because of the Chapter # announcement.

It's not to say there were never pauses, but they were nearly universally mid-sentence where a pause did not belong. This narrator never met a comma he didn't ignore.

If I didn't usually love Michael McCollum's books, I'd never have even tried to finish this.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

If it interests readers in McCollum's other works, then I suppose.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not the Audiobook, I'd recommend the Kindle edition instead, because the narrator was so absolutely terrible.

What did you like best about this story?

I did enjoy the conclusion to the trilogy's story.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He was unbelievably bad with the odd "punctuation" of his reading. Some phrases had their emphasis or pacing butchered so badly as to completely change the meaning of the passage, forcing the listener to reconstruct the author's intent from the context.

Could you see Bounty being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It might make a 'B' movie.

Any additional comments?

Get rid of this narrator, or at least force him to read the material ahead of time. I doubt that would fix it, though.

Sad follow-up to decent first, terrible narration

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narration was awful. That's really being too nice. It was worse than terrible. There was almost no feeling in what was being read, and I quickly became convinced that the narration was occurring during his FIRST read-through. Not only did it do nothing to convey the feelings of the characters, it was riddled with staccato stops and starts, with odd pauses. This was very hard to listen to, and awfully distracting.

If you’ve listened to books by Jason Halstead before, how does this one compare?

This was my first Halstead listen. I read Wanted myself, and enjoyed it enough that I jumped on Ice Princess (2) and Bounty (3) as soon as I found them available with Whispersync for Voice, although I was disappointed with this book in relation to the first one.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His odd timing, stops and starts, very poor choice of which words to emphasize, and lack of expression pretty much ruined the audiobook for me.

Was Ice Princess worth the listening time?

No, I would've rather read it myself, alas I use it to pass the time during my commute as I was driving.

Any additional comments?

Please consider letting this narrator make his living another way.
