Historia
Following a convention in the Scottish Highlands, eight social media influencers vanish without a trace, leaving their followers–and families–in a state of shock, and the police clueless as to their whereabouts. And then, the livestreams begin. Broadcast live from their squalid underground cells, the young influencers are forced into a sadistic battle for survival. With each livestream, their captor pits them against each other in a twisted competition for likes. The influencer with the fewest positive reactions faces a gruesome end–live on camera.

JD Kirk is back on his game!
Revisado: 10-24-24
After some silly absurdity in the spinoffs, JD Kirk is back in rare form in this DCI Jack Logan novel. The story is fantastic, and I even want to throttle him for that twist at the end. This was an excellent book! (OK I wish we had been treated to more detail of Hoon’s interaction with Thomas, but you can’t win them all! 😂)

Leave Out the Romance
Revisado: 06-28-24
It contains the basic formula with misdirection and revelation. Could have been a good story, but ruined by silly romance. No FBI agent would ever behave that way, especially in such an unprofessional manner with someone so closely involved in a case. The story also lacks the satisfaction of really watching the guilty parties get theirs. I guess it was all right, but not the series for me.

First Logan Book to Disappoint
Revisado: 05-16-24
I absolutely love the Logan series, and Angus' performances are always top notch, but this is the first one that struggled to keep my interest. I just didn't really care about the story, and there weren't as many one liners that usually make me laugh out loud. Still, I'm very much looking forward to the next one in September.

A Ridiculous Caricature
Revisado: 02-09-24
As much as it pains me to say it as a die hard DCI Logan fan, I just can't take another Filson book. These characters have become ridiculous caricatures. The personalities, the nicknames (Gonad and "Mickey BF" - I'll leave it at that - Seriously?), I just can't. Ace and Tammi-Jo are absurd, not endearing. The Logan characters feel like friends. These characters make me want to slap every one of them. Ugh!

Zero Respect for This DCI
Revisado: 11-28-23
There is no way this guy would be a DCI. He is a petulant, impulsive, easily-baited, tantrum throwing idiot. He goes off halfcocked, putting people in danger, and we're supposed to pull for him? No way. I can't get past book two.

Slow
Revisado: 01-06-23
I’ve always been a very big fan of all of the JD Kirk books on DCI Logan and Hoon, but this was the first disappointment. The only saving grace are JD Kirks signature one liners that made me laugh out loud as usual. Other than that, this book was slow and I felt my attention waning. I also wish he would stop writing American characters into his books. They come off like caricatures of Texas oil men. Just kind of strange. I guess you can’t win them all.

Give me a break!
Revisado: 08-08-22
I have finally reached my limit with the series and I don’t think I can continue. Police officers who willfully ignore evidence? Now it’s supposed to be OK to hit people in the head with hammers and commit armed robbery and car jacking simply because you have a hard luck story? People read these books because the good guys are supposed to win. This was ridiculous.

Disappointing and Hard to Believe
Revisado: 07-28-22
The first two books in the series were really good, which is why I continued with this one. Unfortunately, this one is full of story elements that are really hard to buy. While these books are fiction, they have to be believable enough for the reader to buy in. This one is full of stupid rookie mistakes and absurd assumptions these police officers are making in groups. There are first year police officers who would not make such ridiculous mistakes. It just seems like the drama of the story it was forced by inserting these elements. Too bad.

Censored?
Revisado: 06-14-22
Good story and very good performance, but the recording is odd. Sometimes it repeats, going back 1 or 2 seconds. And I have never heard an audiobook recording where profanity and racial slurs are censored out with electronic tones. It’s a little strange.

Historia
Was the biggest case of his career the worst mistake he ever made? Ten years ago, DCI Jack Logan stopped the serial child-killer dubbed "Mister Whisper", earning himself a commendation, a drinking problem, and a broken marriage in the process...When another child disappears a hundred miles north in the Highlands, Jack is sent to lead the investigation and bring the boy home. But as similarities between the two cases grow, could it be that Jack caught the wrong man all those years ago?

Still on the Fence
Revisado: 06-18-21
I was really excited to find a new series, especially one set in Scotland. The narration is really excellent, the story is very interesting, and the characters are interesting. My only frustration was that I had to keep skipping over the parts about the cats. If you can't handle animal cruelty (like me), this book isn't for you. I also did not agree with Logan's decision at the end about the boy's parents (I won't say any more than that in order to avoid spoiling it for anyone). I just thought it really showed a lack of understanding on the character's part about what that pain is really like. Other than those two things, I really enjoyed this book. I'm going to assume this was a one off and keep going with book number two.
