Historia
What do people enjoy about this series? The characters. You'll meet people you'll love like family and hate like your worst enemy. You'll experience their highs and lows, their triumphs and their failures. You'll find yourself invested in their survival because they could be you.

Nothing to Dislike
Revisado: 10-07-24
I have listened to dozens of post-apocalyptic books, and this is either at the top or darned near it. I love these characters, and thought about them even when not listening to the books. Horton is a relatively new find for me, and I'm going to grab another one as soon as I'm finished writing this review. One thing I appreciated about this story is that, although the central character is a prepper, he's not a super-prepper. This story is realistic in that he has thought of many scenarios and possibilities (yes, more than most), but is still surprised by things he failed to anticipate. That would be the case with many preppers. Just an overall outstanding series.

Historia
Since he was a small boy, Mosab Hassan Yousef has had an inside view of the deadly terrorist group Hamas. The oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member of Hamas and its most popular leader, young Mosab assisted his father for years in his political activities while being groomed to assume his legacy, politics, status...and power. But everything changed when Mosab turned away from terror and violence and embraced instead the teachings of another famous Middle East leader.

Genuine, succinct and deeply moving
Revisado: 12-20-23
I am so glad I listened to this book! The author lays bare his experience growing up in Gaza as the respected son of a respected HAMAS founder. He is so openly conflicted, and it is emotionally moving to walk with him as he navigates through the behaviors and doctrines of three religions. Everything he thought was sure and solid in his loving, family Muslim upbringing begins to crumble when he opens his heart to other perspectives and, especially to Jesus. This would be excellent movie material if anyone had the guts to make it.

Could not finish.
Revisado: 11-30-22
As a huge fan of A. R. Shaw, I'm sorry I couldn't finish this. Primary reason - the narration. While it's probably not fair to have such a poor narrator follow the other three books beautifully read and dramatized by Kevin Pierce, Jordan Gibbs was way out of his league. He is far better suited to read teenage and children's books. He has no emotional or performance range and I was embarrassed for him. It was like listening to an elementary teacher read to the class. I can't finish the book. Sure hate that since I've listened to all this author's work. Kevin Pierce is a big reason I even buy an Armageddon book.

Historia
On Zero Day of the first and last cyberwar in human history, the internet went dark, transport and power grids collapsed and cities began to starve, showing just how vulnerable the world could be to a targeted campaign of online sabotage. This final installment of this prescient epic of civilisation collapse finds the small ragtag band of survivors come together to face a new, but eerily familiar threat - the rise of a fascist militia among the ruins of a failing country.

Excellent Narrator
Revisado: 06-30-22
Gritty, urbanized SHTF saga. The narrator read it brilliantly, making it seem that there were several people actually performing multiple parts. My only issue (and I realize many people don't mind this) was with the constant f-bombs. Although I can see how repetitive pecking with the f-word was intended to develop the hard edges of the characters and the anxiety of the situation, it became distracting. Also, from a 30,000 foot perspective, the book made me think about the condition of the human character and ethic, and which side of sanity and bravery I'd end up on if something like this really happened.

Historia
America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

Narration Was Painful
Revisado: 03-28-20
It was so difficult to even "hear" the story through the over-acted narration. It sounded like a high school production of some old 40s detective movie. As far as I was able to grasp the story, it was so full of meticulous and boring detail in the development of characters that I finally just threw my hands up and gave up trying about half way through. Maybe if the narration had been good, I could have persevered. I guess I've been spoiled by Kevin Pierce's narration.
