Historia
It’s 2006. After a string of rejections from men who tell her they could never, ever, ever see her “that way,” awkward third-grade teacher Micaela Blei signs up for a mysterious course called “The Divine Feminine,” and feels like she might have found the key to the perfect life. Turns out if you’re an A student, you can get an A in anything–including men. Pretty soon she’s learning to "conjure" her desires with vision boards, flirtations, and even a daring jumbotron viewing party for her, ahem ... "divine center."

Relax as life unfolds
Revisado: 01-23-25
Thank you for sharing a deeply personal and transformative experience. I appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. It’s easier said than done to “relax as life unfolds” but that is a lesson for many to learn. Yeah, let’s look at life through softer eyes, as it is for us, to help us navigate and unfold in our journeys. Thank you!

Historia
As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and understood.” And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood. In How to Know a Person, Brooks sets out to help us do better, posing questions that are essential for all of us: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them?

Loved the book! I gave this a 5 star review because you were able to share your lived experiences by connecting it directly to the point in a specific chapter, allowing it to sink in more with tangible examples. This may seem basic for a writer but it’s not. It’s a real skill that has been developed over decades of work. I also loved your self reflections and honesty about your shortcomings and self improvement. Well done! The book makes is safe to turn the mirror on oneself to see the flaws and beauty within ourselves. Thank you David Brooks!

Historia
There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with listeners, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

The science behind common phrases
Revisado: 06-26-23
I found this book extremely helpful in understanding myself better. I’ve always heard of common phrases like “be positive, look on the bright side, be mindful of the energy you give off, etc”All of these things are true but I didn’t understand why I kept returning to self doubt, fear, etc., and now I understand that’s it my saboteurs! It’s been really helpful to understand the 10 common saboteurs and how they play a role in my behavior. I’m also aware of my Sage and I’m focused on strengthening that! Thank you for explaining this and providing real examples.

In When the Body Says No, physician and writer Gabor Maté explores the mind-body link and the connection between stress and disease. Can a person literally die of loneliness? Is there a relationship between the ability to express emotions and Alzheimer’s disease? Is there such a thing as a “cancer personality”? Drawing on scientific research and years of experience as a practicing physician, Maté provides answers to these and other important questions.

Validation, Confirmation and Education
Revisado: 08-05-21
Growing up in a family that lived by secrecy, control, and abuse, I found this book validating. In my childhood, I knew things, felt things, and wasn’t allowed to ask questions or express deep confusion and hurt. I’ve been working on myself for the last 15 years to clear out repressed anger and to better understand the physical feelings in my body. The interviews and stories shared confirmed what I suspected in some of my family member’s illnesses. Thank you for sharing your research and wisdom, it was very educational.

I found the book to be thought provoking and insightful. Many of the stories moved me, which initiated me to reflect upon my own behavior (past and present), as well as, take a personal inventory of where I have grown as a woman and a professional. Each gap was illustrated by an engaging story that was described with enough detail that I could feel it. I loved the way Kathy told each story with compassion and ease, and offered helpful tips and strategies at the end of each power gap. Kathy is a gifted coach, author and story teller, and has a natural ability to connect with people. By the end of the book, I felt as if I stood taller and more powerful in my own greatest.

Historia
In the 1940s and '50s, when the newly minted Jet Propulsion Laboratory needed quick-thinking mathematicians to calculate velocities and plot trajectories, they didn't turn to male graduates. Rather, they recruited an elite group of young women who, with only pencil, paper, and mathematical prowess, transformed rocket design, helped bring about the first American satellites, and made the exploration of the solar system possible.

Great way to share the accomplishments of these amazing women. Loved the story though parts were hard to follow because it seemed to jump around, back and forth. Regardless, the story of the remarkable women is well worth telling! Thank you!

Excellent book
Revisado: 06-27-19
Michelle has a way of telling her story from a pure heart. You can hear and feel the pain and joy in her voice. Her ability to share her fears, hopes, dreams and anxieties made it easy to connect with her on so many levels. I always had a great deal of respect for The Obama’s and after listening to this book, my respect and gratitude has increased immensely.
Well done Michelle!
