Very little plot, and the smex wasn't good enough to let me suspend my disbelief. I didn't expect a lot, but I was left wanting, although the h was not.

Audio was also a problem. Narrator was good, but the volume randomly faded in and out, which didn't help to keep me engaged.

Classic 80s Romance

I've loved this book for years... just keep in mind that it was written in the 80s.

The narration... mostly fine. She sounds like an older lady, but that didn't bother me, and her male voices were pretty good. Unfortunately, the voice she used for Jane was... AWFUL. She was obviously trying to sound younger, but she overdid it, making Jane sound like a whiney kid. This is a character that's truly great... tough but loving, can protect herself but isn't a may sue, and the voice made her true characteristics hard to see. It was particularly bad during sexy times....

Not Really a Book One

There were so many things that didn't make sense, or were left unanswered, that I suspect were explained in a prior series. Made it frustrating to follow. Also, there were time jumps that didn't make sense, unrealistic action scenes, and 2 "huge" twists that I honestly didn't care about at all, because, again, they were related to a prior series. in this book, her dad was a weak jerk, and honestly, his sacrifice, as written, was pointless.

Maybe if I'd read the others, I'd have liked it. The narration was very good!

A case of trying too hard....

It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. Overall, I think it was trying too hard to be everything. It was a strange mix of quirky characters and storylines, serious issues, glossing over those serious issues (really, the dad remarried less than a year after the mom died and still has a 17 year old in the house??!!?? And the 17 year old seems perfectly fine while the 23 year old is melting down? just weird)

It got better about half way through, but still seemed too easy... and yet still too convoluted. I did like the mfc being in a wheelchair without it being a dramatic plot point... very nicely done. But a lot of the PC stuff was ham-handed and clunky.

Another wonderful trip to the bayou! Great narration, and, as always, the secondary characters stole much of the show, but the MCs were wonderful.

Great stories... cringey sex scenes

The stories themselves are great; interesting and drew me in. The sex scenes were so cringey though, and, unfortunately made up about 50% of the book. They aren't hot or sexy, just clinically bad porn. There was no real build up of the relationships either, so when they're suddenly in love, it just feels ridiculous.

In each book, there's a good bit at the beginning before the sex starts, and I'd start thinking that this was going to be a great book. Then they jump into bed, and everyone is tstl and the entire plot falls apart, so it's just one cringey sex scene after another.
