I WAITED 7 YEARS FOR THIS
Revisado: 01-09-22
This book has left me disappointed. I think I expected too much It was as if someone else wrote it. After all the hype and hoopla leading up to this book, it falls flat. I will probably read book 10 just to finish this 20-year journey if I live long enough. There are so many inconsistencies. I don't know who will read book 10 Davina is having trouble with some of the voices. I watched the pre-launch with Eventbrite (another disappointment) Sam H said he would be happy to read book 10. How did this book rate a 5 star review? I have not observed many glowing reviews.

I COULDN'T REMOVE MY EARPHONES
Revisado: 07-18-17
I enjoyed this listen . Caitlin a novice detective gets pulled into a high profile investigation, She has an advantage, her father had hunted a monster called Mercury 20 years earlier. Mercury resurfaces each new murder twists its way through the canticles of the Inferno
Victims are displayed to represent sinners in the circles of hell, Caitlin deciphers the cryptic messages left at the murders. The ending is just the beginning .
This is in no way like DB,s Inferno. Great summer read.

Historia
Everything about the man is a mystery: the massive ranch in the remote Black Hills of Wyoming that nobody ever visits, the women who live with him, the secret philanthropies, the private airstrip, the sudden disappearances. And especially the persistent rumors that the man’s wealth comes from killing people. Joe Pickett, still officially a game warden but now mostly a troubleshooter for the governor, is assigned to find out what the truth is, but he discovers a lot more than he’d bargained for. There are two other men living up at that ranch. One is a stone-cold killer who takes an instant dislike to Joe.

I LOVE THIS SERIES
Revisado: 09-04-14
What made the experience of listening to Stone Cold: Joe Pickett, Book 14 the most enjoyable?
This is my first venture into the series. the narrator is spot on.. the information on falconry, hunting, and the state of Wyoming is informative. The story lines are tight, It is a mind movie. I have downloaded my next listen already. , I cant wait to get into it....
What other book might you compare Stone Cold: Joe Pickett, Book 14 to and why?
LONGMIRE
What does David Chandler bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
he varies his voice enough to separate the characters and Nate's whispery voice makes him seem very mysterious
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The West Is Wild
Any additional comments?
I hope to find a book about Nate

"is this a set up for a sandra bullock movie"
Revisado: 06-30-13
this was a book I was looking forward to listening to. I thought, great I liked The Monk series,
I love the Stephanie Plum storyline, Both feature quirky characters, fun, and engaging.
The fact Scott Brick was narrating was another plus he is ok (but not in the Pendergast novels) in this case he droned on and on, did he ever vary his pitch or intonation? I thought Kate the FBI agent was another bad assed chick wanting to make it into the old boys club. her assignment given to her by FBI honchos was to recoup misappropriated funds and work with the con man she is looking to put away. I listened to the beginning, fell asleep, woke up at the last chapter, finished listening and didn't feel like I missed anything. The con worked the money retrieved and the end was a set up for future books .Kate has been reassigned to
catch our lovable conman with the million dollar smile he is a fugitive, and she will be hot on his heels, I'm repeating myself ... great plot setup for the future... Yes there was some sexual tension between Kate and Nick I believe it involved chocolate in Berlin and a candy bar, Toblerone (his big deadly weapon) at the end. .I will stick with Stephanie and bid farewell to Kate.. I don't think this will be a book I will revisit.....this was a ho-hum yawn fest..

"PALM BEACH EXPOSED"
Revisado: 06-20-13
I like the Archie McNally character ,carrying out discrete investigations Lawrence Sanders gets into the heads or the Palm Beacher"s., The high society balls, the excess, the snobbery between old money and the vulgar
Nouveau Riche, with conspicuous consumerism, face lifts, polo ponies, raising money for the "poor" (anyone not living on ocean drive) I think it's fun to poke holes into the sheltered lives of trophy wives, the pompous husbands, the over the top homes and life styles..It is all there. How fast can you drive a Lamborghini in Jupiter, Tequesta, or Palm Beach? Maybe 60 mph. What a waste.. I know the horror of I95 at rush hour, the "season" ( November to May) when the snowbirds come to town and prices at restaurants become double, not good for us locals. We just sort of laugh behind our hands and pray for hot steamy weather, to drive them up to their summer homes. These books are not literature but satire. For me an outsider of the Palm Beach high jinx. this series is fluffy mind candy, but fun never the less .

" An ABSORBING LISTEN"
Revisado: 06-19-13
What a great introduction to the Dublin Murder Squad.,I felt as if as if I was getting to" Know"
the characters I liked the development of Scorcher and Richie ,Richie comes through with great interviewing techniques , he seems to be a natural. He grows into becoming a detective. The setting was eerie, sort of a depressing place to live. Nothing is what the home owners thought they were buying. Then a horrific murder occurs. This book reveals Scorchers devotion to his disturbed sister Dina. Scorcher is The Job and this is a big case and perhaps he can redeem himself, due to a botched investigation, he hasn't had a high profile case in a while. A voyeur has a nest where he can watch the family and tries to insert himself, He obsesses over times gone by. He enters the house
hangs out when the family is away just to feel her again. Broken Harbor, haunts Scorcher, due to his mothers death (suicide) during a family vacation. the story has layers of relationships, angst, dread, anguish. It haunted me!. The imagery created a movie in my head not many listens effect me this way. If you like police procedurals and want a walk into the dark side, this is for you, I must add the narration and accents seemed real.
