Enchanting and Funny

A great listen - well worth your time. The narrator made it fun to listen to. The author made me feel like I was right there in the village of Edgecombe watching the entire amusing story unfold. If you are an elderly parent with a child who is trying to control you, you will especially enjoy this book. I loved it because I spent a lot of time in England and can relate to so many aspects of the story. If you enjoy politically incorrect humor, then you will love this book.

Full of Liberal Rants

Elizabeth Gilbert does a good job interviewing people from other cultures about marriage. Those parts were very interesting. However, I was so tired and annoyed of the author's liberal rants about every social issue under the sun. It took away from the enjoyment of the book. I really liked "Eat, Pray, Love" but this book is a serious let down. The author over analyzes every aspect of life and marriage to the point of annoyance.

I really like how Kricher shared his personal experiences with me as I followed him on a journey around the Earth. There were so many interesting stories about the plants and animal interactions in the different ecosystems. I have a strong science background and I still learned a lot by listening to this lecture series. I will be sharing what I learned with others. Highly recommended.

Great Refresher on Goal Setting and Prioritization

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 05-05-09

I like the way that Brian Tracy put the information together into clear, action steps. If you have read books about goal setting, then you will not find a great deal of new information in this book. A couple of great tips hit home with me. One is to create zones of silence where there are no distractions or interruptions. Another was that if you spend 10% of your time planning, you will save 90% of your time on the project. A little preparation goes a long way. If you need a refresher course on goal setting, balance and priorities, then I highly recommend this book.

Enjoyable Logical Ranting

Glenn Beck managed to entertain while making a lot of sense. His approach was to dissect many political issues and offer real alternative approaches and solutions. I thought that the book was funny and enjoyable. It made me look at issues differently by requiring me to think more critically. My only issue is that there was an over use of statistical data.

Suspenseful

I loved this book because it exposed me to another world. Cultural information was woven into a wonderful story of two boys growing up together in Afghanistan. That is how the story started. Then, the author took me on a wonderful journey of life, full of emotion and suspense. I was drawn into novel because Hosseini is a wonderful author. I cannot wait to read more of his works.

For the Simple Minds

Revisado: 08-25-07

This book would be useful to you if your life is a disorganized mess. The workbook and lessons could help to keep stay on track and get your life back on track. The messages are simple and clear. For those of you that have any common sense, you might find that this book insults your intelligence.

Informative and Authentic

This book was very educational. Although it made me very sad and angry, I am glad that I now have a better understanding of the genocide taking place in and around Darfur. The bureaucracy of the UN does not help the situation. It is frustrating to hear that the UN observers like the author can not intervene. My only suggestion to the author is that more recommendations need to be made. From someone who was so close to the situation for so long, there were not enough suggestions on how to make the situation better.
