Historia
Since the dawn of time, people have been fascinated by those who claim to have extraordinary psychic abilities. The fascination has reached a fever pitch with the rise of modern media. It is safe to say that many of these folks are either extraordinary frauds or extraordinarily deluded. But could some of them be legitimate? Do some people actually possess psychic gifts that can be used to help and heal?

Second reading, still great

I have listened to this book twice now and love everything about it: the writing, the content, and the performance. Didn't want it to end, so I downloaded more audio books by the same author.

Historia
Eithnie is a young painter who is acclaimed by the art world, until the critics start noticing that her work has lost the animating passion that had set her apart from the crowd. She returns to her cabin in Canada’s remote woods, hoping to find a place where she can seek solitude and focus on her art. At first, Eithnie’s muse remains elusive, but then, beautiful and disturbing creatures start slipping into her sketches unbidden.

Historia
Entering her 40th year, Beverly Donofrio, a "lapsed Catholic," inexplicably begins collecting Virgin Mary memorabilia at yard sales. Soon, immersing herself in a spiritual quest, she makes a pilgrimage to the holy city of Medjugorje. There, she learns that Mary comes into a person’s life only when pride steps out and receives a bonus: hope. In Looking for Mary, Donofrio offers the universal story about a woman who--in a quest for the Blessed Mother--finds herself.

Worth reading over again, and again
Revisado: 12-10-21
I just finished listening to the audio version of this book for the third time. Beverly is brutally honest about her failures, doubts and fears. She is also an excellent writer, and I don't want the book to end. I am not a Catholic, but love Mary and totally relate to the way Mary loves us and sneaks into our hearts in unexpected ways. Thank you Beverly for writing this inspiring book. May you and everyone who reads it be as richly blessed as I am by it.

Historia
Mary is the flower of femininity to some, a woman of power to others. She has been seen as a paragon of obedience as well as an instrument of liberation. Some have piled her status so high that it rivals that of her Son. Other do their best to ignore her. Behind all of those images is a girl who grew up to be the mother of Christ.

Historia
In Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary, Dr. Pitre takes listeners step-by-step from the Garden of Eden to the Book of Revelation to reveal how deeply biblical Catholic beliefs about Mary really are. Dr. Pitre uses the Old Testament and ancient Judaism to unlock how the Bible itself teaches that Mary is in fact the new Eve, the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, and the new Ark of the Covenant.

My favorite book about Mary, Mother of God
Revisado: 08-03-20
I loved this book for the thorough and articulate unpacking of the many layers of the mysteries of the Virgin Mary. Now I understand more clearly my own unintentional relationship with her. She sought me out and brought me back to her son, in a way I have never known before. And now I can't get enough of her. So glad I found this book. Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

loved this story
Revisado: 08-01-20
I absolutely loved this audio book. The writing is amazing, Especially the way he wove song titles and phrases through the story so naturally. Only wish there could be clips of the music embedded, that would be awesome, but I did play many Stevie songs in the background while listening to the book, which really was wonderful. Somehow I had forgotten how much I love Stevie Nicks and her music. And, wow, what a prolific and talented artist she is!

It was the early 1960s. The place, a far-off corner of the Himalayas long fabled in Tibetan tradition to be hiding a valley of immortality among its peaks and glaciers - a real-life Shangri-La. They waited generations for the prophesied lama to come, the one with the secret knowledge of how to "open" the Hidden Land. Then, one day, he came. His name was Tulshuk Lingpa.
