2nd to the worst book I ever got from Audible

The narrator has a voice that is so grating to me that I am unable to get through the prologue and 2 chapters. There is absolutely no variation for the different characters. I don’t know if I like the book or not as I cannot get past the voice. I recommend you skip this audible version and get the paper back version, you might actually like that version of the book. Unfortunately, I got this before there was an option to return bad books.

Two GOOD books, chopped to lose the author's story

In addition to being so severely "abridged" that you lose the author's story into something that barely resembles the author's story, Book 2 in the series is the first book in the recording and the FIRST book in the series is the SECOND in the recording. I'd rather get BOTH books in UNABRIDGED and use 2 credits instead of just one for this trash. However, AMAZON has decided that readers do not deserve that honor on Audible, and only gets ABRIDGED books. Before Amazon took control of Audible, books were in unabridged and some abridged.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I do not like the Diesel character from her other series becoming mainline in this series. I have the between books, but I rarely listen to them. If I had known this was a between book, I would not have wasted the credit on it. Come on, zombies, is not what I expect in a non-between Stephanie Plum book.

Where does The Burning Room rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I love the Michael Connely books. I have been listening to Harry Bosch books for years and are replayed on a regular basis. This is the only one that left me saying, "OH NO!".

Quick moving book

Where does The Butcher's Boy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Over all, I liked the book enough to get the second in the series. The plot jumps around in both time and between the groups of characters. This would not be a bad thing, but I sometimes had to replay sections to double check which female character is talking and to whom. The reader seems to have had too many characters for his range of voices. This may not be a problem with people with better hearing.
The plot of the book has a lot of action and seeing the world through a mafia hit man and the people tasked to try and catch him was captured very well by the author.
