Historia
For Ning, the only thing worse than losing her mother is knowing that it's her own fault. She was the one who unknowingly brewed the poison tea that killed her - the poison tea that now threatens to also take her sister, Shu. When Ning hears of a competition to find the kingdom's greatest shennong-shi - masters of the ancient and magical art of tea-making - she travels to the imperial city to compete. The winner will receive a favor from the princess, which may be Ning's only chance to save her sister's life.

4 stars for target audience, but adult fans may downgrade to 3 stars
Revisado: 04-01-24
-1 star for lack of clarity on timeline of main character’s journey and continuity issues it created
-1 star for unpolished a) read/performance inc mispronunciation of common terms/phrases and b) constant repetition of the same adjectives or phrases to describe character reactions and mannerisms across ALL characters.
As a teenager, this would be a solid 4-5 star read for me. The magic system is so incredible and my mind fills in the blanks for the lush backdrop and setting to the point that the story really is so enchanting. As an adult fan of YA, I can’t un-see the faults and it overall comes across as not quite polished enough. Another round of workshopping for the author and another round of editing for the publishers and this would shine. It entertained me enough to continue to the next installment but not enough to keep the hardcover copies of the books I bought in my own library. I will pass them on to someone else to enjoy.

Historia
A unique look at women and girls with autism spectrum disorder. The difference that being female makes to the diagnosis, life and experiences of a person with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has largely gone unresearched and unreported until recently. In this audiobook Sarah Hendrickx has collected both academic research and personal stories about girls and women on the autism spectrum to present a picture of their feelings, thoughts and experiences at each stage of their lives.

Ideal primer for newly diagnosed
Revisado: 02-26-23
Ideal for young women and adults newly diagnosed, cathartic in many ways. Excellent resource for those who love young women and adults newly diagnosed as it is well organized and so many examples from many women with autism/ autistic women are shared.
