Well researched and interesting, and so unfortunately relatable. I both enjoyed and felt triggered by this book, but highly recommend it… and recommend playing it out loud for friends, family, partners, and especially expectant mothers.

This book is both uplifting and at times quite alarming, and well worth a listen.

I loved this (at the same time that I hate that it's happening), but then I already love Amber Ruffin from her years making Seth Meyers even funnier and now helming her own show... As a white person who grew up (completely unconscious to the fact) in highly segregated rural Ohio, so much of the oblivious racism really struck painfully home, and all I can say is that I'm grateful that we're at least talking about racism more openly these days, so we can hopefully be dragged into a far better and less shitty and racist future. One person at a time, one realization at a time, leading to more widespread recognition and reconciliation, and in the meantime way better public policy... perhaps we can get there within my son's generation. It is my most sincere hope.

It's not always easy to look at oneself and recognize the ways we unconsciously get in our own way, but Brene makes it accessible, and feel like an act of connection. I appreciate the tools in this latest book, which are applicable to whatever way we "lead" in our lives.
