Horrible Narrator
Revisado: 12-06-22
I could not get past the 1st chapter and was forced to return the book because the narrator is so bad.
After every sentence there is an Is intolerably long silent gap between the next sentence.
Then before he speaks again he always takes a large breath which is extremely annoying.

I Blacklisted Authors & Narrator
Revisado: 11-22-22
Predictable amateurish foreshadow writing ie when you start out a story line that everything is golden and perfect, you know that something bad is going to follow. There is so much bad writing that I could not listen to this without my finger over the Fast Forward button.
Narrator is intolerable as he talks so slow and annoyingly pauses after every statement. forced to listen @ 1.8 speed. His female voices are horrible. He also inappropriately pronounces random words as if they are important when they are not.
When Navy SEAL guys kick down taliban doors they do NOT say put the gun down, esp when the terrorist is holding the gun to a woman's head. A real SEAL would just immediately put a bullet in the bad guy's head. NOPE, these idiot authors have him asking nicely to put the gun down. So Stupid!
Authors should not say "a kid in a candy shop" more than once, but they do. They also have to explain what everyone is wearing which is so incredibly annoying. Every chapter begins with a stupid quote &/or a bunch of worthless minutia such as time, date and location.
Really BAD writing!

OK. Not Good nor Great.
Revisado: 11-22-22
You will hate this book unless you like a big cast of narrators and tons of background sounds.
Annoying beginning that starts with an interrogation of a hysterically complaining woman. Next shootout scene is even more annoying with a woman crying in the background. If you like to listen to babies crying then you will like this scene.
Next scene is of another annoying woman who joins the politicians and negotiators who "try" to save the day with the cartels. All she does is complain to the degree that I have to fast forward whenever she was talking.
The gun firefights are often annoying to listen to because all you hear is stupid grunting and gunfire. There is also a lot of inappropriate laughing that is just hard to listen to.
The book does have a lot of action scenes, some of which are quite entertaining. But unless you can buy this for 75% off like i did (like $5.50) then it is not worth the $ or credit.

Blacklisted Author & Narrator
Revisado: 11-22-22
You will be completely lost until everything is explained at the end. The contrived multitude of world changing coincidences are 100% implausible & unrealistic. Book is quite simplistic until you get to the end then an absurd world changing plot is magically thrown into the mix.
The protagonist is a 6'3" 240 lbs of muscle that likes to fight his fights by himself as he is a loner. He is Special Forces yet the idiot author has a bad guy sneak up on him from behind not 1 time, but 2 times. This is highly unlikely esp in a parking lot or entering a barn.
There is a lot of times you will want to fast forward through the stupid writing. I could not listen to this book without my finger over the Fast Forward button. Author will often ask 2-4 pointless questions back-to-back.
Every woman in the book is drop dead gorgeous.
Author uses "like" in every other sentence, always followed by a stupid pointless cliche that adds nothing to the story line. In fact 3-4% of the book uses this amateur writing methodology, thus 4% of the book is 100% wasted and annoying. Good to great authors rarely use "like". This author will often say "like" 2-3 times in 1 sentence. Incredibly annoying & stupid!
Narrator is so boring and dry, rarely uses any quality inflections, that I almost returned the book because he was so bad. But since I paid for it I suffered thru it all.
Never again will I listen to this author or narrator.
Oh ya! Good guy breaks bad guy's knee by kicking it inwards, but later in book bad guy acts as if his knee was never broken.

Pierre Clostermann DFC was one of the oustanding Allied aces of the Second World War. A Frenchman who flew with the RAF, he survived over 420 operational sorties, shooting down scores of enemy aircraft while friends and comrades lost their lives in the deadly skies above Europe. The Big Show, his extraordinary account of the war, has been described as the greatest pilot's memoir of WWII.

Great Stories / Poor Writing
Revisado: 08-24-22
Action packed book full of great stories, a real page turner – the kind you don’t want to put down. BUT really hard to listen to due to the horrible writing. If you can get past the copious overuse of the word “like” (and even “as if”) then you can finish this book.
But I'm a prolific reader of about 4,000 audiobooks and student of literacy, this was incredibly difficult for me to listen to. I forced myself to finish the book because I enjoy this genre.
I get it that the author is a fighter pilot first and foremost, and not an author. I just wish they’d rewrite and edit this book to cut down on the abuse of the word “like”, which rarely advances the storyline and most always makes the user / abuser look bad.
EXAMPLE:
Suddenly, the Focke-Wulf exploded, LIKE a grenade. A blinding flash, a black cloud, then debris fluttered round my aircraft. The engine dropped LIKE a ball of fire. One of the wings, torn off in the flames, dropped more slowly, LIKE a dead leaf, showing its pale yellow under-surface and its olive green upper- surface alternately. I bellowed my joy into the radio, just LIKE a kid …
Author also commits many other writing sins IE listing off 12 military ranks back-to-back or 13 names back-to-back (not once but twice) or 15 different regions or names of 20 different planes.

Recruited as a codebreaker of enemy ciphers, ex-debutante Osla Kendall spends her days translating Axis military messages and her nights reading mystery novels. When Osla gets her hands on Agatha Christie's most recent work, N or M?, a mysterious signal within its pages catches her eye, and she and her eccentric book club get in touch with the famous but reclusive writer. Osla's outreach is a welcome distraction for Agatha, who feels restless and underestimated toiling away in a London pharmacy.

Incredibly boring and uninteresting
Revisado: 08-23-22
I listened to this entire short story and never once got interested in the storyline or any characters it was so boring that when I was doing my dishes by hand and the sink I found that more interesting
There was nothing fun about this book nothing interesting no action No twisted plots no super bad guys.
All in all this is one of the dumbest most boring books I've ever read out of the 4000 audiobooks I have read my lifetime

Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Unrealistic / Unbelievable
Revisado: 08-23-22
Imagine detectives immediately writing off a sniper shot to the head as a hunting accident, without further questions or inspection. Imagine politicians killing 50+ special operators just for $. Sure, I cannot stand most politicians and we all know most of them are greedy bastards, but to date the most killed in 1 day are 17 Navy Seals in a Chinook crash. Killing 50+ would put way too many eyes on such an event to make it unwarranted to even begin considering it a viable option.
the political evil in this book goes beyond the pale.
you can tell when an author is an amateur writer when s/he uses "like" too much.
NARRATOR ...
has a whinny voice and has a propensity to highlight or over pronounce insignificant & unremarkable words in every sentence. in so much that his cadence is like any human I've ever heard talk. It is incredibly annoying! I've listened to 4,000 audiobooks, and porter is intolerable for me - he is on my BlackList of narrators to NEVER listen to.

Could NOT Finish. Returned it.
Revisado: 08-15-22
I've never read this author but most reviews were so good and some said you can listen to this as a standalone book having not read previous books. WRONG.
There is no character development so I could not get into the characters. Even tho i listened to 1/2 the book before i returned it, and getting this far was really painful and not enjoyable.
I could not follow the story line with all this jumping thru time and space.
I've read about 1,000 SyFy books and this one rated a solid 0 for me. Maybe i'd enjoy it if i read previous books and understood the characters better and how and why they jump thru time and space.
