Classic Early Chamdler Pulp
Revisado: 02-04-25
This is a short story that Raymond Chamdler canibalized in "Murder My Sweet," and which is worth listening to on its own. The reader is good. but I am not sure if he pronounces the detectives name correctly.

Revisado: 12-09-23
This is my favorite piece of reporting about World War Ii. it is difficult to believe any of it really happened. It reminds me of something you would read in a comic book, rather than the New Yorker, where the story originally appeared. it is hilarious and also heartbreaking.

I have heard most of these stories before, but I have never heard them told better. I only wish Mr. Fry had told more sories that had not been recorded so often by others.

Why is there no actual horror?
Revisado: 10-15-23
The performances by the actors were excellent. The story was terrible. The "Buffy" television series had genuine horror, in addition to social commentary, parody and snark. This production had plenty of snark, but no horror. Nothing was remotely scary. "Buffy" without horror is not "Buffy."

Revisado: 08-06-23
Ever since I found Audible I have been hoping Andrew Robinson would record his book and Audible would make it available. "Deep Space Nine" has always been by far my favorite Star Trek series and Garack one of my very favorite characters. My only warning to Audible customers who are interested in this book is that you should watch all of "Deep Space Nine" before listening to this book. The wait will be worth it.

Historia
Hawke's narrator is a young man in torment, disgusted with himself after the collapse of his marriage, still half hoping for a reconciliation that would allow him to forgive himself and move on as he clumsily, and sometimes hilariously, tries to manage the wreckage of his personal life with whiskey and sex. What saves him is theater: in particular, the challenge of performing the role of Hotspur in a production of Henry IV under the leadership of a brilliant director, helmed by one of the most electrifying - and narcissistic - Falstaff's of all time.

I Have Loved This Book Since 1968
Revisado: 11-30-22
I love the way Peter S Beagle keeps slipping into an iambic beat. I love how he uses more metaphors than Raymond Chandler. I love how he cloaks the desperate unhappiness of life in slapstick comedy. I have been waiting a long time for a recording of this book to be available on Audible, and now the wait is over.
