Historia
Following in the tradition of John Howard Griffin ( Black Like Me) and Barbara Ehrenreich ( Nickel and Dimed), Norah Vincent absorbed a cultural experience and reported back on what she observed incognito. For more than a year and a half she ventured into the world as Ned, with an ever-present five o'clock shadow, a crew cut, wire-rim glasses, and her own size 11 1/2 shoes, a perfect disguise that enabled her to observe the world of men as an insider.

Great Read
Revisado: 05-26-08
Facinating account of Nora's 1 year masquerade as a man. The experience taught her lessons about both genders, and broke many stereotypes. Lots of humorous and serious scenarios. The author's voice is a bit monotone, like she has not fully shed her "male" tone. NOT a male-bashing book at all--guys actually get alot of sympathy and credit.

Historia
Lisey lost her husband, Scott, two years ago, after a 25-year marriage of profound and sometimes frightening intimacy. Scott was an award-winning, best-selling novelist and a very complicated man. Early in their relationship, before they married, Lisey knew there was a place Scott went - a place that both terrified and healed him, could eat him alive or give him the ideas he needed in order to live. Now it’s Lisey’s turn to face Scott’s demons, to go to that terrifying place known as Boo’ya Moon.

Worth the Listen
Revisado: 01-06-07
Another excellent King novel. As usual, he tends to go on longer than needed sometimes and the first few chapters are less fun than the last as he "sets the stage." Yet it always kept me guessing, and was well worth the time.

Good philosophy, bad listening
Revisado: 01-06-07
Listening to this audio was boring and tedious. The ideas of relaxing, appreciating nature and one's own company are good ones. Yet much of the time the author writes exceedingly about things so mundane and common that it's boring. Also, since it is entirely narrative, there is no diversity in the reader's manner. Not good for a long commute in the dark when I'm already sleepy.

Historia
In a voice both haunting and startlingly immediate, Nitta Sayuri describes her life as a geisha. Taken from her home at the age of nine, she is sold into slavery to a renowned geisha house. Witness her transformation as you enter a world where appearances are paramount, virginity is auctioned to the highest bidder, women beguile powerful men, and love is scorned as illusion.

Best Listen Yet
Revisado: 12-17-05
This story actually kept me SITTING IN PARKING SPACE listening to the end, after a 1-1/2 hour commute home. The narrator performed the many characters so well, and the story itself is informative, emotional, and captivating. To top it off, it's a true story.
