Historia
Angus Bjornson only ever wanted to do one thing: to continue crafting exquisite weapons and pieces of armor for his loyal customers. Unfortunately, after one accident too many that leaves the old blacksmith completely disabled, it would seem he has no other choice but to hang up his hammer. However, that would be underestimating the stubbornness of the self-made man.

Love the detail - but the antagonist is meh
Revisado: 09-16-22
I started off really liking this book. I was on a roll listening to it until about hour 4. Once he gets done crafting for the Arena champion and the antagonist takes the front stage is when things begin to fall apart. He is the standard spoiled monopoly monger. I mean, it's okay, but it really felt like a plot device to keep the story moving forward.
It's a shame because I was really loving it up until that time.

Historia
The life of a lifesaver. DocWagon - saviors of the needy, rescuers of the desperate. Willing to go anywhere, rescue anyone, as long as that “anyone” has forked out enough advance cash to justify the effort. Reporter Amelia Hart has embedded herself with a DocWagon team to see what their life is really like, and she’s in for a wild ride. But will they survive long enough to remember that in the Sixth World, nothing is truly random?

Don't be scared off by the short length!
Revisado: 09-01-20
I will be the first to admit that when I am looking for a new book to spend my monthly credit on, I often stay away from short Novellas. I never feel like I get my moneys worth. Not true with this one.
I love how things build on top of each other. I also fell like I was a member of the audience n her tale listening to her show on exploratory journalism that she did. I even love the commercial breaks that make it feel like you are really part of the world! They mention places and people that are relevant to the story's plot too.
There is a lot to love with this one. I don't often pick up short audiobooks, but I am glad I did for this one.

Historia
The coldest shadows. Arcano-archaeologist Elijah knows that digging into the past can be its own reward - or peril. When he’s hired to find an ancient map purported to lead to a mysterious location at the bottom of the world, his professional curiosity is more than roused. But his quest to simply get his hands on the map is more dangerous than he expected - even for a shadowrunner. He and his own team of runners - including everything from a goblin rigger to a troll street samurai - follow a murky trail that takes them from the ruins of Chicago to the jungles of Amazonia.

Something New
Revisado: 05-24-19
I've known about the pen and paper game and SNES games that take place in this world and thought I would give it a try. I wasn't disappointed. The story and characters are engaging. If you are into world-building, this story has it. It's even better if you know a little bit about the lure of the big companies, why they employ Independent contractors (Shadowrunners) to do thier dirty work, and why magic returned to the world.
If you've ever read/listened to Altered Carbon, this book has a very similar feel to it.
If stories about magic, futuristic technology, have a Bladerunner vibe or paint a picture of a dystopian future are your thing, definitely try this one out. I hope more of them are forthcoming. Highest recommendation.

Historia
The DFZ, the metropolis formerly known as Detroit, is the world’s most magical city with a population of nine million and zero public safety laws. That’s a lot of mages, cybernetically enhanced chrome heads, and mythical beasties who die, get into debt, and otherwise fail to pay their rent. When they can’t pay their bills, their stuff gets sold to the highest bidder. That’s when they call me. I’m a Cleaner: a freelance mage employed by the DFZ to sort through the mountains of magical junk people leave behind. It’s not a pretty job, or a safe one....

Try something new
Revisado: 05-14-19
I 'd never listened to anything the author had written before, but found the blurb interesting. It sounded like storage wars with mages. I was not disappointed. She had great world building and the town and backstory felt alive. The romantic interest is pretty standard, but they typically are. I'm interested to listen to her next one.
