In this intimate journey of self-discovery, Sam sets out along Scotland's rugged ninety-six-mile West Highland Way to map out the moments that shaped his views on dreams and ambition, family, friendship, love, and life. The result is a love letter to the wild landscape that means so much to him, full of charming, funny, wise, and searching insights into the world through his eyes. Waypoints is a deeply personal journey that reveals as much about Sam to himself as it does to his audiences.

I loved it
Revisado: 05-30-23
it was a great pleasure to travel along with Sam on his journey of self discovery. I found it very interesting to hear about his childhood and struggle to grow into his chosen profession of acting. Isn't it interesting how life gives us the lessons we need rather than just the things we want?
Bravo Sam, hearing this book and Clanlands by yourself and Graham McTavish make me like you very much! See you soon on the screen!

Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Loved It!
Revisado: 01-13-23
I love Kingsolver although not all her novels equally. This is my favorite so far and I really loved flight behavior the lacuna and unsheltered. I love how she takes on major environmental and social issues within the context of a compelling intelligent complex characters who are easy to love. the narrator is excellent
you can see demon through kingsolver's story telling but also the narrator's accent and delivery. I highly recommend it!

story of dreams and true friendship
Revisado: 09-30-21
This book helped me understand what true friendship is. These two women are completely different, and yet so much the same for what they have suffered ok n their lives. They not only help each other heal, but help each other to realize their dreams by finding strength in themselves they didn't know they had. Wonderful narration, at times funny at times, sad.

good, be it too formulaic
Revisado: 07-11-21
I always enjoy the Kate Burkholder books. However Castillo relies heavily on a certain formula maybe a little too much. Kate always steps into mortal danger with a naivete bordering on stupidity. in addition I find there are too many clues as to the outcome. I could see the direction and possible murderer way ahead of time,.and I couldn't help but wonder why Kate could not see it, and instead walked right into a life threatening trap. I enjoy the narration very much and overall enjoy the characters and the setting of Painters Mill.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Hannah writes a captivating story of two sisters in
whose lives are torn by two wars, especially the 2nd world war. Their struggles to survive Nazi occupation of France is vividly depicted. Their relationship is fragile due to circumstances of their childhood but in the end they find each other realizing the love they have always felt but could not express. Excellent narration.

she gets better and better
Revisado: 09-12-20
I love all Penny's books, but I think this is the best. That's pretty amazing to have your latest novel in a long series be your best. Penny manages to keep her beloved characters and balance that familiarity we love with original plots and imaginative construction. How many series have you read in which the author settles into a predictive formula a will not budge. There maybe new characters or a slight change for the familiar ones, but you know your hero is going to walk blindly into the same problems again! Boring! Penny preserves the important basic characteristics of Ganache , his values of truth, justice, family, love for the men and women who work for him, kindness, etc. And yet we learn more about him in each novel. He keeps evolving while staying the same beloved man. Read this book, and if you haven't yet, all the others too.

Historia
As a member of the strictly religious Satmar sect of Hasidic Judaism, Deborah Feldman grew up under a code of relentlessly enforced customs governing everything from what she could wear and to whom she could speak to what she was allowed to read. Yet in spite of her repressive upbringing, Deborah grew into an independent-minded young woman whose stolen moments reading about the empowered literary characters of Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott helped her to imagine an alternative way of life among the skyscrapers of Manhattan.

for anyone who feels trapped by a restrictive society. The author breathes a vivid light on the experience of growing up in a highly restrictive society which uses guilt and shame to entrap it's citizens into conformity.
I was especially you he'd by her belief in herself and her determination to be true to herself in the face of her upbringing, her loves ones and those who strive to control her life.

Historia
Renée Ballard is working the night beat again and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours only to find a stranger rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is retired detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard kicks him out but then checks into the case herself, and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger. Bosch is investigating the death of 15-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch.

Great read !
Revisado: 11-12-18
Once again Connely writes an exciting intriguing, suspenseful story. The storyline is streamlined with just enough side information to round out the characters, give them a history and a psychological profile without bogging down the action. Baalardis is a great character, and the way he pairs her with Bosch is seamless. This so a great new angle for Connely fans, I recommend it highly.

Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Revisado: 09-23-17
I love that Connelly has a female character who is just as dogged, honest and loyal as detective Bosch. Ballard is smart determined and believes whole heartedly in the law. This book on the whole is just as fun, suspenseful and satisfying as any of Connelly's other books and I highly recommend it.
