But she is also furious that the author has killed off her favorite character in his latest book. Annie becomes his captor, keeping him prisoner in her isolated house. Annie wants Paul to write a book that brings Misery back to life - just for her. She has a lot of ways to spur him on.

An inside account of the fight to contain the world's deadliest diseases - and the panic and corruption that make them worse. The Next Pandemic is a firsthand account of disasters like anthrax, bird flu, and others - and how we could do more to prevent their return. It is both a gripping story of our brushes with fate and an urgent lesson on how we can keep ourselves safe from the inevitable next pandemic.

I love stories about infectious diseases. Well, that doesn’t sound good. But if you’re the same, you know what I mean. At turns scary, fascinating, and foreboding- it is a must read for anyone who wants to know how millions of people can (and will and have) die from the tiniest of things - a microorganism. Oh, and more proof that #VaccinesWork

Historia
Once again, David Sedaris brings together a collection of essays so uproariously funny and profoundly moving that his legions of fans will fall for him all over again. He tests the limits of love when Hugh lances a boil from his backside, and pushes the boundaries of laziness when, finding the water shut off in his house in Normandy, he looks to the water in a vase of fresh cut flowers to fill the coffee machine.

I have read much from David Sedaris but nothing beats listening to him read his own work. It is so funny and at times cringe worthy and relatable. It is funnier if you've traveled to Paris and Tokyo.

Historia
In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

Excellent Execution of this Story
Revisado: 02-21-18
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was listening to this book. When I wasn't listening to it, I was thinking about when I would have time to listen to it again. I was addicted! The extensive research Bilton did pays off in the execution of Ross Ulbricht's story. It is rich in detail and all the characters come alive as read by Will Damron. I recommend this fascinating story highly!

With compassion and candor, leading neurosurgeon Henry Marsh reveals the fierce joy of operating, the profoundly moving triumphs, the harrowing disasters, the haunting regrets, and the moments of black humor that characterize a brain surgeon's life. If you believe that brain surgery is a precise and exquisite craft, practiced by calm and detached surgeons, this gripping, brutally honest account will make you think again.

Real, Raw, and Really Good
Revisado: 12-20-17
I was surprised to see that this book was not narrated by the author as the narrator was completely believable as the neuro surgeon, Mr. Marsh. Having been an OR nurse and now in administration at a hospital I found this book to be so accurate in terms of what a surgeon goes through in the OR and behind the scenes. Mr. Marsh's frustrations, failures, and flaws all ground the narrative in reality. It is amazing to be the guy inside your brain when everything turns out well. But when it doesn't turn out well due to the delicate nature of the operation, the patient's illness, things beyond your control, or the mistake you or your junior makes, the results are devastating. Well worth the read!

Shocking true background to this story
Revisado: 11-13-17
Children were stolen from their parents, either outright or by tricking them into signing away their parental rights. Wingate tells the story of the Tennessee Children's Home Society through this fictional family. It is an easy read and well done. The horror is that it is based on true events, that everyone was in on it (police, judges), and that it happened in Tennessee.
