It’s not as good as the first, but I definitely liked it. It was more heavy on the supernatural, but also added more to the relationships. The full cast aspect was a departure but interesting in its own way.

Inviting character and unexpected outcomes

Some reviews have complained about the main character's repetition of a particular memory, but it was clearly to foster the idea that if you have only one memory to draw on then your mind will go back to it with all manner of variations. I loved the book and I'm excited to hear a second book is planned, though this can be read as a standalone. This has almost a fairytale quality, but incorporates a sense of seeing beyond the tale everyone knows to the reality of the situation.

Lots of questions introduced but no answers. Main character is not very likeable and motivations muddy. I like some of this authors other books so I'll check out book two when it comes out.
