Historia
In 1961, at the height of the Cold War, the United States severed diplomatic relations with Cuba, where a momentous revolution had taken power three years earlier. For more than half a century, the stand-off continued—through the tenure of ten American presidents and the fifty-year rule of Fidel Castro. His death in 2016, and the retirement of his brother and successor Raúl Castro in 2021, have spurred questions about the country’s future. Spanning more than five centuries, Cuba provides us with a front-row seat as we witness the evolution of the modern nation.

There Should Be No Doubt
Revisado: 10-21-22
There is no doubt that Dr. Ferrer spent a lot of time researching the history of Cuba. There is no doubt that Spain and the United States had and in the case of the United States, continues to have influence on Cuban daily life. There is no doubt that most Americans of any ethnic background will learn a great deal about Cuba's history and how interwoven Cuba and the United States have been since the Revolutionary War. And there is no doubt that as objective as Dr. Ferrer might have sought to be, there is a bias, however slight, that permeates throughout the book, in this writers opinion, a bias toward White people and conservatives.

For 10 years Kathryn Sermak was at Bette Davis's side - first as an employee, and then as her closest friend - and in Miss D and Me she tells the story of the great star's harrowing but inspiring final years, a story fans have been waiting decades to hear. Miss D and Me is a story of two powerful women, one at the end of her life and the other at the beginning. As Bette Davis aged she was looking for an assistant, but she found something more than that in Kathryn: A loyal and loving buddy, a co-conspirator in her jokes and schemes, and a competent assistant.

if you are a Bette Davis fan you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Kathryn has done an excellent job sharing the life that she had with Ms.Davis for the last 10 years of Ms. Davis's life. Kathryn tells their story honestly with heart with warmth and even with humor. The time spent reading this book or listening to this book is well worth it.

Historia
Irvin D. Yalom has made a career of investigating the lives of others. In this profound memoir, he turns his writing and his therapeutic eye on himself. He opens his story with a nightmare: He is 12 and is riding his bike past the home of an acne-scarred girl. Like every morning, he calls out, hoping to befriend her, "Hello Measles!" But in his dream, the girl's father makes Yalom understand that his daily greeting had hurt her. For Yalom, this was the birth of empathy; he would not forget the lesson.

Good not Great...
Revisado: 11-21-19
My initial reaction on completing the book was Yalom has had a very privileged life. A life filled with many accomplishments many high points and certainly Yalom his beloved, dare I say by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. As I sit and reflect on all that Yalom wrote about his life I have to say that while he has had lived a privileged life there has also been tragedy, there's also been sorrow and I for one am grateful that he included it in his memoir. My only real negative if it is a negative is it I felt that the book was two or three chapters too long.

This book will let you into the heart and soul of Paul Lynde. Best remembered for outrageous jokes on Hollywood Squares, as Uncle Arthur from Bewitched, and as the frantic father in Bye Bye Birdie, Paul was never satisfied with his career - or his personal life. But even as he suffered through some of the cruelest of times, Paul continued to make us forget our troubles and was forever gracious to his fans. This is the book those fans have been waiting for.

Revisado: 03-15-19
A thoughtful, well written book about a very funny man, whose life wasn't always so funny. Paul will forever be Uncle Arthur to so many of us. This book helps us understand the man behind the jokes. This author has helped his fans know Paul more intimately and I would like to believe that Paul would've been very happy with this book.
