I love the Vesik Series! I don't know how Eric Asher continues to come up with these great stories and keep the huge amount of characters all straight. Garden Gnomes Graves is another fantastic installment.

Narrator Travis Baldtree is phenomenal. The story comes to life through his interpretation.

Naomi Rose -Mock executed all the sass, wit, and one-liners perfectly. Bravo!

If you gotta die, ending up in Carnage Crossing isn't the worse place to be. With a nod to Beetlejuice, Rourke has created a beautiful macabre tale that kept me glued to kindle and wanting more. I could not enough of the delightfully dark and boisterous new world. The world-building and character development were phenomenal. I am always amazed at the unique and fun new places Rourke takes me.

Poppy Royana as Nix is BRILLIANT!

I was ensnared in the Reaper's charm after narrator Poppy Royana uttered her first words as Nyx. I cannot imagine anyone else as the Reaper now. Royana is brilliant.

This hauntingly poetic excerpt from Rourke's new series could easily be her best work yet. Nyx is a strong, powerful; yet broken reaper. My heart ached for her. Lucifer is every bit the male chauvinist I expected him to be. The group is rounded out with Ezekiel who is the voice of reason for the trio. I love the spin Rourke is putting on the good vs. evil, the Devil vs. God story. I cannot wait to see where this story goes.

Rachel Ryder is the new Raylan Givens!

This installment reminds me of one of my favorite southern crime TV shows, Justified. Like the shows MC Raylan Givens, Aspenson's Rachel Ryder is gritty, gruff, and at times rash. I love how the author combines Ryder's past and current cases into a complex and twisted storyline. This "who dun it" has a lot of players and at times I felt I needed a whiteboard to follow it too. But in the end, it was a fantastic crime procedural. I'm looking forward to reading other books in this series and seeing how the case of Ryder's murdered husband plays into future installments.

Narrator - Anne Marie Damman
The narrator does a great job bringing this installment to life.

First Impressions:
Rook Dagger is the sexiest, coolest name ever! She sounds like she should be a PI instead of a student.

Want to make a fictional character even hotter? Give him a one letter name!
G oozes sex appeal.

I want to visit the town of Hawthorn! A town full of various paranormal and fantasy creatures, oh yeah, I'm there!

*****************************************************************************************
The characters in Hemlock are fun, sassy, and sexy. My only complaint is that I found them eerily similar to the cast of 13 Ways to Midnight (also by this author). The story definitely has undertones of 13WYTM and Twilight. Now that's not a thing. I LOVE 13WTM. #TeamAsher all the way. But it would have been nice to not feel like I was with the same characters in a different setting. Will that stop me from continuing the series when the next book releases? Absolutely not. I'm invested and I enjoy this trope.

Moving on to the narration. I have never experienced an audiobook with such a diverse ensemble. I loved the unique quality each person lent to bringing the story to life. All the different accents were great too. However, in terms of production, it seemed obvious some of the male narration was added in. It didn't flow seamlessly. I only noticed it a few times.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and the narration. I look forward to hearing this cast do the next book.

I have missed Damien's snark and quick wit. I had my doubts that he would survive the Book of the Dead series, but thankfully Damien did. I'm so happy to have the new and improved necromancer back in action. Dream of the Forgotten Dead continues where the prior series left off. Vesik is adjusting to his new stronger powers while battling a couple of basilisks! The action, wit, and characters we readers have come to love were all present.

Travis Baldree had some big shoes to fill stepping in as narrator but I am pleased to say he did so seamlessly. The story booms to life in the unique however similar voices we have come to love.

You know you are enthralled in an audiobook when your smartwatch alerts you to your increased heart rate! Saskia Maarleveld does a splendid job of submerging the listener into the story.

Asher is a mastermind at creating intricate landscapes and diverse characters. The story unfolds in your mind and you can practically feel the battle rattling around you.

Is anyone truly who they seem to be? I am anxiously awaiting the next installment!

Cage created a dark and twisted story of heaven, hell, sacrifice, love, family, and so much more in the Faltering Souls Trilogy. In the final book, Contrition, There is no happy ending in the battle of good versus evil. Lives are lost. Love is sacrificed. But the end is just and fitting for the story.

The Narrator, Vanessa Vasquez, had a daunting range of characters in the final installment but she lent a unique and perfect voice to each.

I previously read The Girl at The Hanging Tree in 2020. It left such a profound mark on me that I couldn't wait to revisit it as an audiobook. I finished the book last night and I am still reeling from it this morning. Gray boldly takes on abuse, mental health, the small town hive mind, and racism. So many taboo topics in one story. The author delivered a profound story with grace and dignity. I cannot accurately articulate the emotions invoked in me by this story. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about Gemma Louise and all that she endured. It is understandable that she retreated within herself and allowed Tansy to live her life for her at her worse moments.

The narrator, Sarah Graham, expertly delivered an award winning performance as Gemma and her alters. There were moments when I felt my heart would beat out my chest as I was so engrossed in the emotions of the story.

Whether you grab this in print or audio I highly recommend both.
