Historia
From the moment MacKayla Lane arrived in Dublin to hunt her sister’s murderer, she’s had to fight one dangerous battle after the next: to survive, to secure power, to keep her city safe, to protect the people she loves. Now, as High Queen of the Fae, Mac faces her greatest challenge yet: ruling the very race she was born to hunt and kill - a race that wants her dead yesterday, so they can put a pure-blooded Fae queen on the throne. But challenges with her subjects are the least of her concerns when an ancient, deadly foe resurfaces.

Best male narrator since P.G.
Revisado: 02-25-21
Im rating this, for the most part on narration since it is an audible review. Boy I sure do wish Aiden Snow would have done Feverborn, Feversong and High voltage...He was absolutely awesome. As a devote of this series I longed for a deep, gravely, strong, sultry masculine voice for my beloved Barrons after Phil was gone and boy did Aiden deliver ! Bravo Aiden ! He also did well on Lor, Christian and even Shazam! I just cannot say enough about his voice. Im so so pleased!! Amanda did another fabulous job w the various female voices but I cringed each time she said "sheena-do". Egads she pronounced it right in prior books. As far as the story itself...one negative...not one single solitary sex scene. Not one. WHAT ? I didn't even get a wiff of sexual tension anywhere , nothing. Not even when Mac found out the faux Barrons was a good guy did she get her inner dialogue kink on and fantasize. Gee whiz im bummed, Karen usually has awesome sex scenes.

good things come in small packages

Wow this sweet little story hit all my buttons...historical, romance, fantasies I've dreamed of and ones I never thought of and since this is an audible review, an excellent male voice. Male voices make or break an audio book for me, like seriously. I am way more flexible w female voices as long as a male is doing a duet w her, as in this case. I will not listen to a book where a female tries her level best to do a male voice...nope just aint happening for this gal (but I can listen to a male do a female voice, weird I know lol) I must have a strong male voice done by a male...and it must be done well, again as in this case. Shane did a fabulous job. Derek is my favorite but if I could choose a backup voice for Kerrigans books, Shane would be my pick. Stella did a superb job as the female. Im also the type of gal who will listen to the same books over and over and over (more weirdness lol) and this little story made me tear up every time. Hats off to Audible for giving us picky listeners a chance to hear both voices in the preview, that's what helped me purchase!

Kerrigan and Derek sheet perfection
Revisado: 06-13-17
This is THE best audio book ever ! I read all Kerrigans books before I listened to them. WOW even better on audio ! Derek is the best narrator ever , bravo for all your voices ! I nearly snorted when he did Frank for the first time ! I may be in the minority here but when I listen to an audio book it better be done by a male! I can't stomach a woman trying to do a male voice , after all the male character is what does it for me in novels so it hits the spot to hear a male do a male part and Derek rocks ! I can't say enough about the storyline , the characters , the scenes...omg I can't say one bad thing about it. I love the way Dorian gets all pissed when Farrah calls chief inspector by his first name , when she suggests she take a lover...when she gets mad at Frank but still takes his tarts...I LOVE when Derek does Merdock...oh all Dereks voices rock, as does Kerrigans heartwarming story . To date I've listened to the Highwayman over 10 times !

Historia
Enchanted by a powerful spell, Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar slumbered for nearly five centuries hidden deep in a cave, until an unlikely savior awakened him. The enticing lass who dressed and spoke like no woman he'd ever known was from his distant future, where crumbled ruins were all that remained of his vanished world.

Phil is the best narrator ever
Revisado: 04-17-17
I love all Karen Monings novels and have read her Highlander series as well as her Fever series. The choice of using Phil Gigante is sheer perfection as narrator. I only listen to books that feature a man as a narrator. What draws me to a romance novel is the male hero and who better to add to the fantasy but a male voice ! (and a well done male voice such as Phil) Id rather hear a male squeak a female voice in the novel than a female try but fail to do a deep male voice...
