Historia
To those who matter in 1950s Hollywood, Lena Scott is the hottest rising star to hit the silver screen since Marilyn Monroe. Few know her real name is Abra. Even fewer know the price she' s paid to finally feel like she' s somebody. To Pastor Ezekiel Freeman, Abra will always be the little girl who stole his heart the night he found her, a wailing newborn abandoned under a bridge on the outskirts of Haven.

Heartbreaking and Beautiful
Revisado: 01-29-24
Wonderful story, so human, full of pain and love! Once deep into the story, couldn’t stop! I laughed and cried, and felt so much. I love Francine Rivers and her books. This one reminded me in ways of Redeeming Love… though a patient, loving and persistent God doesn’t change does it? The narrator wasn’t my favorite, but thankfully Francine’s writing shines beyond the voice!

Historia
One little white lie—that's all it took. Now I'm suddenly having to fake-date my work nemesis to get through a week at a Vermont Christmas lodge with my family. The problem? I can't stand Miles Taylor. Not only that, but I don't date people I work with. But I can handle it. I've had practice faking my emotions for years. So it shouldn't matter that Miles never lets me get away with anything. And that he happens to boil my blood hotter than a steaming pot of wassail. So when he throws his annoying grin my way or forces me on dates he knows I'll hate, I'll just grit my teeth and smile.

Cold Tangerines is a collection of stories that celebrate the extraordinary moments hidden in our everyday lives. It is about God, and about life, and about the thousands of daily ways in which an awareness of God changes and infuses everything. It is about spiritual life, and about all the things that we have called nonspiritual life that might be spiritual after all.

A Hit and Miss
Revisado: 07-10-23
I really appreciated her honesty and humor in this book, it definitely made me laugh! I was hoping for a little more of her faith tied into it, so without that, it felt more like Shauna’s Tales. I didn’t like how it was read, too fast and barely a pause between chapters. I didn’t even have a moment to think about what she discussed before we were into the next chapter. I think I would read it again, because there were definitely moments that were incredibly touching that I would underline, but I don’t know if I would listen to her books again.

Authentic, real, heartwarming, inspiring
Revisado: 06-27-23
I loved this book so much more than I thought I would! This isn’t a type of book that I typically read, but I was drawn to it, because it seem to have elements of those hallmark type movies that I love so much. And I loved the authenticity of this book. There were so many heartwarming moments and inspiring and hopeful moments, but it was also very real, and wasn’t necessarily sugarcoated. But that gives the person a sense of hope. There’s something to look forward to, and it may not always be pretty, But beautiful things can happen when you least expect it, or in a timeline that you don’t expect it. This book was like having coffee with your very best friend. There’s times where you laugh, times, where you cry, and times where you just open up your hearts to one another. I truly appreciated the realness of this book, and I would definitely read it, and listen to it again.

Read, Don’t Listen
Revisado: 06-14-22
I will definitely buy this book! I love that it’s something you can read each day for short applications, and for that structure, I think it’s better to read than listen. I wasn’t a fan of the narrator, she almost sounded like a robot to me. I love Karen Ehman and her personality, I would have much rather listened to her or someone closer to her personality.

Probably better to hold the book in person
Revisado: 05-24-22
I think this book has a lot of great ideas to refer back to. In terms of listening to it as an audiobook, I missed the energy that I pictured a group of ladies to bring to a table. I think this book would be better when you can hold it in your hand and look at all the recipes. The narrator, while clear, didn’t bring a sense of energy and fun and vibrancy that I pictured when a group of ladies get together around the table.

Too Much
Revisado: 05-22-22
I could see buying this book to refer back to time and again, but I couldn’t get through this AudioBook. Between the way it was read and the way it was written, it was just too much. I definitely didn’t feel like I was listening to a friend that I could relate to. It was very fluffy, I felt like we really didn’t get to the heart of things efficiently, so I kept fast forwarding. After multiple chapters of fast forwarding, I just decided to stop listening and move on. I think it has some decent info in there, but it’s too painful to listen to, I’d rather just flip the pages real quick.
