Historia
The disadvantage of inheriting a considerable estate by an illegal trick is it puts the family of Mr. North at a disadvantage when someone tries to present a fraudulent will claiming half of that estate. Timothy, the Duke of Trolenfield, and his new wife, Millicent (the sometimes "Mr. North"), depart to investigate the claim leaving the ladies of the Boarder family in Bath to enjoy themselves. Two single ladies, one seeking adventure, the other seeking security, are left unsupervised. You know that can't end well.

Nothing to recommend. Save your money.
Revisado: 05-05-22
None of the characters in this book are likeable. They keep adding new character pov from worse and worse characters. I am not enjoying this book at all. The narrator does weird accents to try to distinguish different characters. They don't make sense and they aren't consistent.
I am abandoning this Audio book about halfway through.
I wish I could return or exchange this book.

Unendurable
Revisado: 01-28-22
After the first 5 minutes the heroine was selfish, stupid, careless, thoughtless and unbearable to listen to. I have up about an hour in.

Historia
At 17, Mei should be in high school, but skipping fourth grade was part of her parents' master plan. Now a freshman at MIT, she is on track to fulfill the rest of this predetermined future: become a doctor, marry a preapproved Taiwanese Ivy Leaguer, produce a litter of babies. With everything her parents have sacrificed to make her cushy life a reality, Mei can't bring herself to tell them the truth - that she (one) hates germs, (two) falls asleep in biology lectures, and (three) has a crush on her classmate Darren Takahashi, who is decidedly not Taiwanese.

Gruesome and Gross
Revisado: 03-24-21
This book is disgusting. First they have the girl give detailed descriptions of STDs. But when she gave detailed descriptions of amateur cadaver dissections I was done. I wasn't really enjoying the book before that anyway.

Historia
They say family always sticks together, but when you're your dad's only lifeline and the whole world - humans, dragons, and gods - wants you dead, "family bonding" takes on a whole new meaning. My name is Opal Yong-ae, and I'm in way over my head. I thought getting rid of my dad's bad luck curse would put things back to normal. Instead, I'm stuck playing caretaker to the Great Dragon of Korea. That wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn't such a jerk, or if every dragon on the planet wasn't out to kill him, or if he was my only problem.

An Opal Problem
Revisado: 06-12-20
I really hate Opal. She is stupid, selfish and reckless. I disliked all the scenes with Opal in this book. Also listening to her ad nauseam thought processes is tedious.

Historia
A werewolf walks into a bar. Tank is working as a bouncer when he notices something odd about the sexy-as-sin bartender. He’s odorless, he’s amazingly popular with shifters, and he’s terrified. A man without a smell. Isaac is trying to escape his past. He hides in San Francisco, because everyone knows that there are no werewolves in the Bay Area. Until one walks into his bar. Can a gentle werewolf with a trampled heart show a man who’s been running scared that sometimes there are monsters worth running towards?

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Dragging and Distracted
Revisado: 01-28-20
3 hours into this 19+ hour book and I am done. The author is giving in depth background on a despicable minor character. I am only interested in the main characters and the story is moving too slow. I have a hundred better books to listen to.

Unorthodox and Entertaining
Revisado: 11-13-19
This is an exciting tale of a deeply flawed young man. At first it is really difficult to like him. He makes one bad choice after another. I just
kept waiting and waiting for him to do something right or smart. It was a long wait. But the story had enough adventure that the tempo moved along quickly. Finally learning about Montague I was able to be sympathetic and more tolerant. And he does improve. I was entertained by this book. The unorthodox journey around various parts of Europe was very interesting. I found all the good people they ran into unrealistic but I got a happy ending. I enjoyed the book.

No editing or beta reading?
Revisado: 10-25-19
An author often re-writes scenes romance improve them. Of course the original scene is supposed to be removed and replaced. The scene in chapter 6 of cleaning up after the bandits is repeated in chapter 8 with enough differences to contradict the first. I can't imagine how no editor or beta reader noticed this obvious and significant error.
The Narrator calls mages "Madges" through the whole book. I found this quite annoying.
Aside from that this book was entertaining enough although it wasn't as well crafted as the previous books of this series.

Narration Inconsistency
Revisado: 10-22-19
The hero has a Russian name as do his family. His culture is Russian. The food and clothing is Russian. His father has a Russian accent. But the narrator doesn't perform a Russian accent for him. It makes no sense. He just has a generic American accent.

The Narrator Isn't Ideal
Revisado: 10-06-19
The Narrator was ok. But he didn't do women's voices very well. I didn't like the heroine's voice at all. It affected how I judged her character in an unfavourable way.
