Historia
Irene Steele shares her idyllic life in a beautiful Iowa City Victorian house with a husband who loves her to sky-writing, sentimental extremes. But as she rings in the new year one cold and snowy night, everything she thought she knew falls to pieces with a shocking phone call: her beloved husband, away on business, has been killed in a helicopter crash. Before Irene can even process the news, she must first confront the perplexing details of her husband's death on the distant Caribbean island of St. John.

Worst book ever!!
Revisado: 12-14-19
Worst book ever. Cringe worthy. characters were ugly and just wanted to get laid as soon as they got to the island. WTF! Island girl has rules and doesn’t date “tourist” until she does date tourist; especially if they are good looking and have the morals of an onion. Mother is sad and upset but doesn’t let that stand in the way of her “getting some” as well. Could not finish this book, had to stop before I forgot what a good story sounded like.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Revisado: 11-05-19
Really... just an alcoholic who can't handle his drinking or his ego and goes off in a childish tantrum WITH FIREARMS. Meh. And an "author" who milks this menace's use of Alasken folklore as an excuse for bad behavior. Goes off into the same wilderness himself and finds......NOTHING. And enough with the f-bombs. I get it. You're a bad-ass.

Historia
In a sleepy seaside town in Maine, recently widowed Eveleth "Evvie" Drake rarely leaves her large, painfully empty house nearly a year after her husband’s death in a car crash. Everyone in town, even her best friend, Andy, thinks grief keeps her locked inside, and Evvie doesn’t correct them. Meanwhile, in New York City, Dean Tenney, former Major League pitcher and Andy’s childhood best friend, is wrestling with what miserable athletes living out their worst nightmares call the "yips": he can’t throw straight anymore, and, even worse, he can’t figure out why.

I don’t get it
Revisado: 09-07-19
All the rave reviews for a so-so read with a lame plot and a cold, brittle character with a matter of fact “you don’t get my problems because they’re greater than the sum of all of yours so I will make you feel small for trying to understand them and missing” attitude. Could not finish this. Maybe I’m missing something, but in this case I don’t think I care.

It’s “DRA-WING” not DRA-RING”
Revisado: 01-07-19
For the love of Pete lady, it’s drawing NOT DRA-RING! So annoying. She did this through out the book. I hear this sort of diction error in young people these days as if they care less about the true pronunciation of words. I hear butt-ens instead of buttons, julery instead of jewelry.....ugh, so annoying. Had to stop halfway through. Staying away from this narrator.

I’ve read better, much better. Plot was too shy to show itself. Characters weren’t even drawn well enough to care about. And to top it off they got a droid to narrate it.

She sounds like a bratty 13 year old...
Revisado: 10-13-16
Ugh, cannot help but think that the whole series would be better with another narrator. The voice of Evie makes me think of a petulant child or preteen. When she talks to Arik the conversation is so lopsided. He sounds like a well educated grown man is arguing with his angsty child. I like the series but I think I will buy the Kindle versions from now on and just read.

Delivering a rare book to a valued customer is definitely part of mild-mannered archivist Anna Whitfield's job description. You know what isn't? Protecting her precious cargo from midflight theft by the very pilot who is flying her to Half-Moon Hollow...while trying to appear as unappetizing as possible to the only other passenger, a vampire. Undead bookstore owner Jane Jameson could be waiting a very long time for her book. Possibly forever.

Awful narrator
Revisado: 08-25-16
The narrator was awful. She made the most intimate part in the book sound as appealing as a dirt sandwich. Her drawl? Accent? Twang, was out of place.. Really, she might has well had been calling out numbers on Bingo night at the VFW. Messed up the whole tone of the book. Made the guy sound like a hayseed. I think I'll just READ the next book.

Annoying, annoying, annoying
Revisado: 08-23-16
Could not finish this book. Main character was highly annoying and insipid. I tried so hard to make it to the end or at least to the middle but alas, there is only so much here I can work with. The woman acted like an irresponsible, moronic child what with dealing with other people's lives which were non of her business and really with no heed for consequences. Her life was a mess and she didn't think twice about messing with another's life. Narrator did not make it any better. Good Lord, one minute she sounded like a child and the next like a senior.
Four hours (and a credit ) I won't be getting back any time soon. 😖
