Historia
It's Easter in Reading, a bad time for eggs, and no one can remember the last sunny day. Ovoid D-class nursery celebrity Humpty Stuyvesant Van Dumpty III, minor baronet, ex-convict, and former millionaire philanthropist, is found shattered to death beneath a wall in a shabby area of town. All the evidence points to his ex-wife, who has conveniently shot herself.

Historia
Each year, the magicians of Imardin gather to purge the city streets of vagrants. They know that no ordinary low-life can oppose them. But their protective shield is not as impenetrable as they think. Somea, angry and outraged by the treatment of her family and friends, throws a stone at the shield, putting all her rage behind it. She is amazed when it sails unrestricted through the barrier and knocks a magician unconscious.

After listening to The Magician's Guild, I had to buy the last two books of the trilogy to find out what happens. I only wish they were available in audio form as well. This is a great trilogy.

Sam Sedar does a great job of reading his book. The old American dream -- work hard, get rich. The new American dream -- being rich. Any questions?

The Coming China Wars
Revisado: 05-26-07
Wow! After listening to this book, the label "made in China" takes on a whole different meaning. Very informative. The Chinese government finances our debt so we can buy more cheap goods from China. This is a vicious cycle that can not go on for ever. Free trade is not the same as fair trade. The question is, will the US be the loser or will China self implode first?

Assassin's Gate
Revisado: 05-26-07
The book gives great insight to the Iraq conflict and should be read (or listened to) by all Americans. The book has stories about average Iraqis, and how their attitudes towards the American occupation changes overtime. Packer points out that as mistakes where made, trust on both sides was lost. The problems in Iraqi have been brewing for decades to centuries and will not be easily resolved.
