It’s a dark view into Trump’s arrogance, delusion and ego. It took me a while to get through it. It’s sad that he’s running again and his followers can’t see him for what he is.

German stories were helpful to listen to.

The German stories were helpful to listen to. I appreciate listening to the flow of the language and the conversation. I was going using this as refresher for German I learned as a child.
The English translations however are pretty rough. The non-English accents are not a problem, so much as the word usage and sentence structure. Clunky.

Wow! It’s a Masterpiece

Disappointed

I’m a big fan of Barbara Kingsolver. I was hoping to love this book. But sadly, Demon fell flat for me. It felt like the characters were just plugged into the Dickens story line and the writing was lacking Kingsolver’s usual beloved style (I’m also a fan of Charles Dickens). I’m not unfamiliar with the darkest issues of the opioid crisis. It’s depressing and heartbreaking. That’s to be expected and not, in itself, a reason to dismiss the book, but it was really a slog getting to the end. Oh, there’s also a lot of cussing, vulgarity, abuse and descriptions of drug use, much of which felt like filler.

Not for the claustrophobic

My husband and I both nearly had panic attacks listening to the description of the accident. Proceed with caution if you are claustrophobic.
I did manage to listen to the whole thing and it was well done but, I was not wowed and admittedly was easily distracted while listening. It wasn’t that gripping for me.
