Historia
Former ace fighter pilot Bree Jagdea’s days of high-octane, white-knuckle dogfights are long behind her. Content with executing supply runs for the war effort, Jagdea considers herself retired. But when enemy forces start a relentless bombing campaign through the hive city of Vesperus, Jagdea is forced back into the Aeronautica – stationed with the infamous Circus 66 squadron, executing near-suicidal dead-drops and blistering interception runs through Vesperus’ lethal rat runs.

Solid Abnett
Revisado: 03-03-25
While not as good as the Gaunt's Ghosts series, this is a decent effort. Fans of Dan Abnett's other books will enjoy it - those who like stories about normal human warfighters in the 40k universe. A bit of a weak ending, but still enjoyed it a lot.
As usual, Toby Longworth is the GOAT 40k narrator.

Slow, ponderosa, boring
Revisado: 01-07-25
Not even close to being as good as some of his previous works. Kind of preachy in parts. Narrator was annoying. Was hoping for something riveting, compelling, exciting, and this just wasn't it.

Historia
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

Riveting
Revisado: 01-07-25
I listened to Islington's previous series and, while I thoroughly enjoyed it, the time jumping and somewhat slow buildup made it a hard read at times. This book, on the other hand, is incredibly tight, character driven, and while it could use a little more exposition, I couldn't stop listening. Finished the whole thing in less than four days. Highly recommend.

As foul daemonic hordes swarm into the sub-sector, the Space Marines of the Iron Hands Chapter bring furious retribution to the Slaanesh-worshipping citizens of Contqual. The Iron Hands face one of their oldest foes as the forces of Chaos infest a hive world. With surprising links back to the Horus Heresy and the death of Ferrus Manus, this is a defining tale for the sons of the Gorgon.

better than the last but, man, this story moves at a snails pace. performance is fine, but the story doesn't engender much love for the characters. it's like they are marking time right now, or something.

Historia
As the Indomitus Crusade begins, fleets of mighty warships leave Terra on a vital quest to stabilise Imperium Sanctus in the wake of the Great Rift. The returned primarch, Roboute Guilliman, leads a huge force towards the shrine world of Gathalamor, where stable warp routes will allow the flotilla to spread across the beleaguered southern half of the Imperium.

Flawed but poignant in parts
Revisado: 02-19-21
Truthfully, the dialogue between the General and Fabian at the end might be the most intriguing part of the book. This novel provides good insight to the mind of the Custodes, and their views on the current Imperium and cautious trust of the Primarch and Primaris, but overall does little to advance the greater Indomitus Crusade storyline.

Historia
Each primarch is an exemplary being, derived from the Emperor’s own genetic stock to embody a facet of His personality. Their powers are unfathomable, but only one of them is the First. Lion El’Jonson is the paragon of what it is to be a primarch. His Legion, pre-eminent for most of their long history, typify the virtues of temperance, pride and martial excellency that the Lion embodies. They are the Emperor’s last line and final sanction. They are His Dark Angels.
