Davina Porter and C. S. Harris are a great pair.
Revisado: 12-07-24
CS Harris and Davina Porter are a match made in heaven. Harris writes mysteries which take place all over England in the 19th century. Davina Porter has convinced me that I am actually listening to men and women from all over Britain. Ms. Porter can change her voice to meet any challenge.
Viscount Sebastian St Cyr is a wonderful human hero. And like some other of my favorite characters, he begins to develop a need to stand for the dead.

Historia
Lt. Eve Dallas is just home from a long overdue vacation when she responds to a call of an unattended death. The victim is Martin Greenleaf, retired Internal Affairs Captain. At first glance, the scene appears to be suicide, but the closer Eve examines the body, the more suspicious she becomes. An unlocked open window, a loving wife and family, a too-perfect suicide note—Eve's gut says it's a homicide. After all, Greenleaf put a lot of dirty cops away during his forty-seven years in Internal Affairs. It could very well be payback—and she will not rest until the case is closed.

I love the cast of characters(not just Roark). The plot was great and Dallas had to work very hard to solve this one. All are worth reading and/or listening to.

Historia
It was the standard blackmail scheme. For years, sultry Lysa Dean's name on a movie had meant a bonanza at the box office. Now a set of pictures could mean the end of her career. When first approached for help by lovely Dana Holtzer, Lysa's personal secretary, Travis McGee is thoroughly turned off by the tacky details. But being low on cash, and tenderly attracted by the star's intriguingly remote secretary, McGee sets out to locate his suspects -- only to find that they start turning up dead!

Historia
On one of the city's hottest nights, New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent to Central Park - and into a hellish new investigation. The victim is found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of The Lake in the park. Around her neck is a single red ribbon. Her hands are posed, as if in prayer. But it is the eyes - removed with such precision, as if done by the careful hand of a surgeon - that have Dallas most alarmed.

Most Gorey in Death Series So Far
Revisado: 07-06-24
I love the Death series and its cast of characters. This book has a seriously sick bad guy drawn so well it is almost too hard to listen to it. Intricately plotted, there is an unexpected twist along toward the end that you will not see coming.

Her characters have an interesting backstory that often intertwine with each other. I do love the way her heroines have gotten more forward about their sexuality. Also I did not guess the bad guy until very late in the story.
