The plot is just a copy of the first book from Legend of the Arch Magus except he goes backwards in time rather than forwards and he is only a Magus so weaker.
The narrator was great and it's not a bad story, but it is definitely heavily drawing on the Legend of the Arch Magus

He makes very little progression aside from wearing multiple layers of clothes to get extra stats that still leaves him with multiple times less stats than his lower ranked companion. He gains little knowledge and has little strength.

People and organizations are referenced as of there was pre-existing knowledge. listening to this as a first book made me feel like there was a lot of missing information that led me to resent the book and want to return it for my credit. It would have been a lot better if I wasn't left guessing for 90% of the book

There are Crunchy LitRPGs with tons of numbers...
There are Chewie LitRPGs with tons of descriptions....
Then there is this bullet point story where he spends half the book complaining about being "just too slow" yet he puts points in everything but Agility every chance he gets.
Hopefully the second half is better.
