Overall, this book was lackluster. Small tips that felt disjointed and incomplete. The tips are broken up by terrain, mountain, Maritime, desert, etc. there was not enough information in any one category to truly get through a real crisis OK. But not as useful as it could’ve been.

Great story, but the narration would have benefited from a professional approach. Her tone is just grating…but again story is excellent.

Clear explanations of Jewish daily and holiday observance. The music is distracting for me - but it might not bother others. Overall, excellent!

Learning Interupted by Loud, Long, Annoying Ads

I honestly don't know what Audible is doing these days. The amount of poor quality recordings put out is rising, the samples we listen to to make a decision often are a rehash of the marketing blurb and not an actual sample of what you will hear in the audible book - and now this.

This is definitely intermediate-level, not beginner and I like the concept. The most glaring deficiency is that the podcast is equal parts advertising and learning. Utterly disruptive and I will not be continuing to use it for that reason alone. It would also have been nice to have had a transcript of both the English and the Hebrew conversation...it's less than useful without those.

Now - I understand that podcasts need sponsors, etc. and maybe that's where things get better. Maybe there are no adverts, maybe there are PDF handouts to review. I don't know - none of that is explained in the podcast.

So - it seems professionally produced - but I'm so turned off by the long, loud, annoying adverts that I won't be using this tool.

They are playing background music that is so loud you can’t even hear the Hebrew word. It is massively distracting and annoying. The girl mouthing the words does not pronounce them clearly and distinctly. There is also no PDF so that you can at least see the word you THINK they might be saying. Audible apparently does not vet for quality anymore. More terrible recordings are out there, poor descriptions and now you have to justify your returns. My Premium subscription is up in February. I won’t be renewing.

Thoroughly enjoyed the conversational tone with real world settings - and simultaneous in-depth information! Looking forward to more!

A book like this is really not suitable for audio - and the narration is terribly choppy and uneven. The cadence is often distracting.

Dorothy Parker’s writing is utterly ruined by the performance of the speaker’s annoying attempt to mimic what she thinks Parker sounded like. It’s like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Literally impossible to listen to and a desecration of Parker’s work.

This book blew me away! Written in bite-size “chapters” that are short but full of meaning, this book is full of deeply practical advice and ideas. Wonderfully supported with real-life examples in clear, cogent language - it’s a fascinating read/listen. I will be reading -and re-reading- this book for a long time! Highly recommended!
