It started in the Middle East. A flu-like plague that infected thousands and killed roughly 10 percent of its victims. Those who died awoke once again, but they were no longer among the living - they came back as soulless, carnivorous corpses who desired only one thing: to feed on living human flesh. While training for a manned mission to Mars, Dr. Sophie Winston and her team of scientists find themselves cut off from the rest of the world. Trapped inside a biosphere deep within the confines of Cheyenne Mountain, Sophie and crew discover they are the survivors of a brutal alien invasion. But as they struggle to stay alive, they realize their safe haven is far from safe and that they must team up with other survivors around the world to defeat the aliens before it’s too late for humanity and the Earth.

In the beginning, there were sleepovers and best friends and pizza on Fridays. Then the monsters came. First it’s the human monsters, raping, murdering, and stealing everything they can get their hands on. Then, come the real monsters, and survival is no longer a matter of luck. To survive the dead, a little girl has to become something else. She has to become more than human while at the same time, sink into depravity that’s beyond the bounds of society.

Cal Carver is having a bad day. Imprisoned and forced to share a cell with a cannibalistic serial killer, Cal thinks things can't possibly get any worse. He is wrong.
