Historia
After arriving on Block Island to find her birth mother, Blake Bronson becomes convinced she’s the heroine of a gothic novel—the kind that allowed her intermittent escape from a traumatic childhood. How else to explain the torrential rain, the salt-worn mansion known as White Hall, and the restless ghost purported to haunt its halls? But before Blake can discern the novel’s ending, she’s found dead, murdered in a claw-foot tub. The proprietress of White Hall stands accused.

absolute trash!
Revisado: 04-18-24
Bought because I love Block Island, and thought this was set there. Nothing Block Island about it, except useing a few street names. it's trying to be a gothic novel, and failing completely! Couldn't even finish, had no interest, nothing about it worth listening to. Sorry I wasted a few hours in the beginning. A trite, shallow, cliche excuse for a book. Do not waste your time. Nothing worth reading or listening to here.

One of Hiaasen's worst. Really enjoy many of his, but this is not one! Didn't even finish, did not care what happened in the story or to any of the characters.

Stepford Wives 3.0. Never read Koontz before, and never will again. Besides being a crazy plot to destroy society, the story does not finish - no resolution just assumed continuation! Do not waste your time!

Historia
We know that plants are important. They maintain the atmosphere by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. They nourish other living organisms and supply psychological benefits to humans as well, improving our moods and beautifying the landscape around us. But plants don’t just passively provide. They also take action. Beronda L. Montgomery explores the vigorous, creative lives of organisms often treated as static and predictable.

way too elementary for me

I expected something more technical. Found this boring and pedantic. learned nothing! I would have returned, but paid only $2.99. Full disclosure, I have a masters in environmental horticulture, so maybe I am not intended audience.

Historia
In his number-one best seller The Perfect Storm, Sebastian Junger describes Linda Greenlaw as "one of the best sea captains, period, on the East Coast." Now Greenlaw tells her own riveting story of a 30 day swordfishing voyage aboard one of the best-outfitted boats on the East Coast, complete with danger, humor, and characters so colorful they seem to have been ripped from the pages of Moby Dick. The excitement starts immediately, even before Greenlaw and her five-man crew leave the dock.

Buy the book and read yourself
Revisado: 04-16-22
Author's reading very amateurish, stumbling, disappointing. Good story, needed professional reader! Neatly returned audible to buy and read the book, because her reading spoils it, but unhappily finished listening.

Good story, but dragged out about 5 hours too long! Reader made some cringe worthy mistakes; such as " Done Jewin" for Don Juan, more than once!

No Ending!
Revisado: 05-02-19
Good story, interesting characters, but the ending is terrible! It basically ends abruptly, without resolving many character's issues. It sort of ties up the wife's story, but leaves the investigator, one of the first introduced, and a major character totally unfinished, ditto the husband. I would not have listened if I realized it would finish this way.

too much sickening violence
Revisado: 03-22-19
The mystery/story could be OK, although unbelievable that a wife of 18 years doesn't even suspect that her husband is a psychopathic kidnapper, torturer and murderer of young girls. But the real disgusting part is the graphic, oft repeated descriptions of torture and worse that goes on and on and on...my advice is give this one a miss.

Reader much too old for part
Revisado: 05-06-18
I liked the story and the reading was done very well, except that the voice does not go with a 30 year old character! Throughout the story I was bothered by the reader sounding like a middle aged man, when the character is supposed to be young - early 30s.
