Interesting fun idea anyway
Revisado: 08-05-24
I'm not 100% convinced the podcast is worth listening to- it lacks the emotional, spiritual, and intellectual depth pondering that the real Watts would dive to- not to mention his pauses and laughs for obscurity- but incredible none the less that AI workers came up with this. You can 100% tell by the repetitive rambling that it's AI. Humans still win… and you can’t replace the real Watts with his cunning performances.

Historia
Coyote America is both an environmental and a deep natural history of the coyote. It traces both the five-million-year-long biological story of an animal that has become the "wolf" in our backyards and its cultural evolution from a preeminent spot in Native American religions to the hapless foil of the Road Runner. A deeply American tale, the story of the coyote in the American West and beyond is a sort of Manifest Destiny in reverse.

Historia
The great Oglala Sioux chief Red Cloud was the only Plains Indian to defeat the United States Army in a war, forcing the American government to sue for peace in a conflict named for him. At the peak of their chief’s powers, the Sioux could claim control of one-fifth of the contiguous United States. But unlike Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, or Geronimo, the fog of history has left Red Cloud strangely obscured. Now, thanks to painstaking research by two award-winning authors, his incredible story can finally be told.

Wasi’chu perspective
Revisado: 11-08-21
Specially in regards to the opening and some of the claims made. Yes some native perspective is given but not nearly enough and the language used without explanation is completely offensive. Hard pass for sure.

Historia
Speaking from the cultural viewpoint of the Lakota of the northern Plains, the author discusses the evolution of native cultures to fit within the environment and adapt to it, as opposed to changing it drastically or wholesale to fit human needs and comforts. He suggests that changing our contemporary thinking in relating to the earth in a less harmful way does not mean a drastic change in lifestyles....

Dee Brown's eloquent, meticulously documented account of the systematic destruction of the American Indian during the second half of the 19th century uses council records, autobiographies, and firsthand descriptions. Brown allows great chiefs and warriors of the Dakota, Ute, Sioux, Cheyenne, and other tribes to tell us in their own words of the battles, massacres, and broken treaties that finally left them demoralized and defeated.

Historia
The French and Indian War: 1660-1763 covers much more than the few years during which the English and French fought over the division of the North American continent in one of the most neglected periods of American history. In this volume in the Drama of American History series, authors Christopher Collier and James Lincoln Collier trace how England’s other rivals for control of America were eliminated over this period until the only source of conflict left would be between the British and their own colonists.

History from one perspective
Revisado: 09-12-21
It’s a great book historically but it’s from a scholarly perspective not from the perspective necessarily of indigenous peoples. It’s good for historical perspective and that’s about it.

Historia
Russell Means was the most controversial American Indian leader of our time, and in Where White Men Fear to Tread, he recounts pivotal moments of his life. Means did everything possible to dramatize and justify the American Indian aim of self-determination — from storming Mount Rushmore and seizing Plymouth Rock to running for President in 1988. Perhaps most notoriously, in 1973, Means led a 71-day takeover of Wounded Knee, South Dakota.

Where White Men Fear to Tread is the well-detailed, firsthand story of Russell Means' life - a life in which he did everything possible to dramatize and justify the Native American aim of self-determination. He stormed Mount Rushmore, seized Plymouth Rock, ran for President in 1988, and, most notoriously, led a 71-day takeover of Wounded Knee, South Dakota, in 1973.
