Interesting but protagonists is very crass.
Revisado: 03-28-23
I could have done without all the bad language. The story itself is interesting enough. The voice acting is good. But the protagonist is both crass and a bit of an idiot.

Historia
James Kincaid is the type of guy who might be described as down on his luck, if only he’d had some luck to begin with. Like so many people in the shadows of Seattle, he’s trying to get by with what he has. In his case, that includes a lively spirit, a sadly diminished magical talent, quick wits, and good knowledge of the twists and turns of Seattle’s dingy streets and back alleys.

Good Shadowrun Story, but
Revisado: 11-30-21
I liked the performance of the reader as well as the story itself, but I could have done without the language and some of the political left agenda that was thrown in that had nothing to do with the story.
While it turned out to be an interesting story, I don't think I will be following the author with future stories. Hopefully, someone else will come along that can write a good Shadowrun story without all the unneeded elements to make it feel edgy and gritty.
As it is, this is not something I would let my kids listen to.

Love the production
Revisado: 10-26-21
While I loved the production of the presentation, (because I loved the different actors doing the various voices, the background music, and the special effects), the language seemed to be more harsh this book. There were several GDs, which I find offensive and it really spoiled what might have been a really good experience. The language is also what prevents me from sharing this with my kids.

Entertaining while still being clean
Revisado: 06-29-20
It is very refreshing to find an author that has not succumb to the never ending pressures of liberal political forces. This series has remained clean while still telling an interesting story that is well written from the very start of book one to the conclusion of the trilogy in this book. When I say clean, I mean free of foul language, sex scenes, or other inappropriate themes. This series is about war, so bad things do happen, but at least those topics are covered at a higher level without going into gritty details.
It was fun to watch not just the main character's development, but that of many of the other characters as well. I am not a fan of level based systems in games, but I do like how the combat ranking was separated from the leveling system. This allowed a character to unlock special abilities as they leveled while not necessarily increasing their combat ranking.
I am looking forward to the next set of books that will continue the story into the second stage. I am glad that I finally finished this book (after binge listening the entire trilogy) so that I can get back to work, because I had a really hard time putting this book down and would often make breaks during the day just to get another chapter or two in.

Historia
Tesser, the dragon of life itself, is one of seven: Earth’s primordial draconic guardians, destined to oversee its development and safety. Species rose and fell, and 10,000 years ago...Tesser disappeared. The golden dragon woke up this morning, buried deep beneath the city of Boston, with no idea how he got there, and no idea how humanity grew so fast and learned so much while he was away. He is lost, a fish out of water. Where is the magic? He’s got a lot of catching up to do if he’s going to find his missing sister and stop an incursion of daemons from beyond the Veil.

Interesting but tainted
Revisado: 08-30-16
It was an interesting story, but there were several things I had to struggle through to reach the end.
1. There is a lot of carcass language that is not necessary.
2. The author's world view is reflected in many places, which produces several sections that I did not like.
Although I made it through this book, I will not continue the series because of the points outlined above.

Another gay book?
Revisado: 07-21-11
The book was moving slowly, it was hard to keep up when it jumped without warning to a different scene, and then they throw in a gay lover plot. Why must the liberal agenda always be shoved down our throats? It seems a lot of the new authors have a guideline that states they have to include at least one homosexual in every story.
Another wasted credit.

Another culture war book
Revisado: 05-03-11
Why is it that authors feel they have to fight political battles using media as their weapons? I was very disappointed to see yet another attempt to normalize homosexuality. The book was already at a slow start, but throw in a lesbian love interest in the first chapter and there is not a point to continue. If homosexuality is not the point of the book, then why is it even in there? If you have traditional moral values, then this book is not for you.
