Historia
Carol Ruckdeschel is the wildest woman in America. She eats road kill, wrestles alligators, rides horses bareback, and lives in a ramshackle cabin that she built herself in an island wilderness. She’s had three husbands and many lovers, one of whom she shot and killed in self-defense. A combination of Henry David Thoreau and Jane Goodall, Carol is a self-taught scientist who has become a tireless defender of sea turtles on Cumberland Island, a national park off the coast of Georgia.

Carroll's gumption
Revisado: 05-22-24
I really enjoyed the vivid descriptions of Cumberland Island and of Carroll's necropsies as well as nature specifically and in general. It is As much a scientific article as a story of endurance.

Historia

Multiple storylines
Revisado: 05-14-24
Even over 50 years later, you can read this and relate to the characters and their struggles. The multiple voices, accents, and even shortcomings of the characters are brilliantly represented by the readers. I really enjoyed the varying timeline.

Julia Alvarez does a great job of putting you in the action. I would hold my breath not to make a sound... exciting, sad, and wonderful.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.
