Nice short story
Revisado: 04-28-25
The story was interesting and well constructed. This one was an especially interesting plot with different characters and a setting outside of their usual. This one is my favorite, so far, of her short stories.

Historia
Jill Gardner, the owner of Coffee, Books, and More, has been suckered into playing a '20s flapper in murder/dinner theater. Though it is for charity.... Of course everyone is expecting a "dead" body at the dress rehearsal...but this one isn't acting! It turns out the main suspect is the late actor's conniving girlfriend, Sherry...who also happens to be the ex-wife of Jill's main squeeze. Sherry is definitely a master manipulator...but is she a killer? Jill may discover the truth only when the curtain comes up on the final act...and by then it may be far too late.

I enjoy this series
Revisado: 04-24-25
It’s not Connelly but it is very solid cozy mystery so it helps me sustain between Connelly and CJ Box’s new releases.

Recipes?!
Revisado: 04-18-25
This was not my cup of tea.
I felt the story was weak,
The search techniques were off but then
I guess the author just wanted us to buy
the story that these two women just kept stumbling
into all the evidence and facts over and over.
For me, It just was off all the way around.
Then, to add insult to injury,
The author ended the book with recipes.
If I want recipes, I’ll buy a cookbook.

Historia
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

This was - maybe for teens, not for me.
Revisado: 03-24-25
Maybe even younger than teens would be a good audience (except for a few adult situations in this book) as there was nothing about this story that could be believed. The adoption part was the only part that had some factual backup, the rest was so outlandish and boring that it was difficult to listen to. If half the dialogue of self analysis was cut it MIGHT have been better. It would also make this book about two hours long. The male reader was pretty good, the female helped make the characters sound like they were 14. This was more romance than mystery, as if the writer combined two ideas and threw them together in hoping for a screenplay. None of it worked.

Historia
When a years-long case against a powerful mobster finally cracks and an unimpeachable witness takes the stand, federal prosecutor Nora Carleton is looking forward to putting the defendant away for good. The mobster, though, has other plans. As the witness's testimony concludes, a note is passed to the prosecution offering up information into the assassination of a disgraced former New York governor, murdered in his penthouse apartment just days before. It's enough to blow the case wide open, and to send Nora into a high-stakes investigation of conspiracy, corruption, and danger.

I didn’t think I would enjoy a book that involved the mob but it was great. Sadly, it is a slice of reality but the book is alive and full of interesting turns.

Too juvenile for me
Revisado: 02-17-25
The voice, to my ears, was irritating - that might have been what turned me off the most - unless it was the baking descriptions that went on ad nauseam. This series is not for adults.

I’m hooked. The characters, the relationships, the progress - all are real and relatable. This mystery was different, the twists were good and the writing is solid. I really like what this author produces.

Historia
People come to Los Angeles to chase their dreams. Sometimes they find themselves cast into a nightmare. And sometimes, the most ardent dreamers turn out to be the most vicious monsters. The body of an aspiring actress is found dumped near a hospital emergency room. She’s been drugged and murdered and the motive for the callous crime remains maddeningly out of reach. Until, a prime suspect materializes. Another Hollywood hopeful. Only to be shot dead by a sniper using a weapon that turns out to have been catalogued in a previous murder. And another, before that.

Perp Perverse to the extreme
Revisado: 02-13-25
I love the duo - may they go on forever. Milo is my all time favorite underrated hero. Though Alex was definitely the “solver” in this one, Milo still stands as the quiet flawed wonderful leader. The only thing that bothered me this time was some of the language was unusually rough. The whole story centered around the extreme of insanity. Nonetheless the story was solid, impossible to let go of and I’ll be going back to it again. Another great adventure of Alex and Milo. They are too far between.

Historia
When Lucy Berberian quits her Philadelphia law firm and heads home to Ocean Crest, she knows what she's getting - the scent of funnel cake, the sight of the wooden roller coaster, and the tastes of her family's Mediterranean restaurant. Lucy could do without Heather Banks, though. The Gucci-toting ex-cheerleader is still as nasty as she was back in high school...and she's just taken over as the local health inspector. Just minutes after eating at the Kebab Kitchen - where she's tallied up a whole list of bogus violations - she falls down dead in the street.

Historia
Sea Isle was supposed to be the fresh start Dr. Emilia McRoy dreamed of. Far from the busy emergency room across the Atlantic in Seattle, she hoped to settle down and begin this new chapter as a small-town doctor to the quirky residents who immediately welcomed her. When she stumbles across a dead body, she starts to think that she may not be as Scot free of the drama and intrigue as she initially thought.

This was a good mystery, charming setting, lovable characters. Immediately sucked in, this story never loses momentum. One problem, it was done too soon.
