3rd book is 3rd
Revisado: 12-17-22
Not as good as the first two in the series. The ending was odd with Avery late introduction of a new character who added little.

After years of being disappointed by Audible Originals, this one is more than worth your time. Good story, good production.

Historia
Ulysses S. Grant's life has typically been misunderstood. All too often he is caricatured as a chronic loser and an inept businessman or as the triumphant but brutal Union general of the Civil War. But these stereotypes don't come close to capturing him, as Chernow reveals in his masterful biography, the first to provide a complete understanding of the general and president whose fortunes rose and fell with dizzying speed and frequency.

Epic American
Revisado: 05-24-20
Chernow captures every scintilla of U. S. Grant. The research not just into his actions, but as deep into his soul. At least as deeply as can be done after one's death. There is a brief mention in this cook that "Perhaps Grant earned a place on Mt. Rushmore". No disrespect to those great Americans enshrined there, yet Grant is equally deserving!

Though Jack Kerouac began thinking about the novel that was to become On the Road as early as 1947, it was not until three weeks in April 1951, in an apartment on West 20th Street in Manhattan, that he wrote the first full draft that was satisfactory to him.

No better!
Revisado: 09-04-18
I read the published version about 40 years ago. I remeber it beigh okay, not great. Now it seems to mean even less to me. That it happened in the late 40's makes it ahead of it's time...but what is it?

Charlie is a Smart Guy
Revisado: 08-25-18
I usually feel it is a mistake for an author to narrate his own work. This is no exception. That said his passion for his work is obvious and the story is strong.
